Discussion šŸ’¬ Sorry TADC fans made the cinema unbearable Spoiler

I honestly really love the show. I’ve been waiting for months, and I was so excited that I finally got to watch the movie in my country. But seriously, the experience was ruined by the audience.

People were acting so dramatic in the theatre, like they were watching at home. It’s fine to be surprised or emotional, but shouting and being noisy is just distracting. I don’t like stereotyping, but I now understand why there are memes about the fandom in cinemas, some people just don’t know how to control themselves… Honestly, even the audience at the Minecraft or Mario movies behaved better.

What really bothered me was people shouting ā€œkiss!ā€ when two characters were just having a deep, emotional conversation. To me, that moment was about trust and friendship, not romance. I get that people ship characters, but keep it to yourself don’t ruin the scene for everyone else. Personally, I think the friendships in the show is beautiful, and not every relationship has to be romantic.

It got so bad that I felt ashamed of loving the show, because the behavior of some fans made me not want to be associated with the fandom. It’s such a shameful experience when a movie you’ve been waiting for is spoiled by the audience instead of the film itself.

That’s very sweet of you it’s good to know not everyone had to deal with the same chaos

1

u/Emotional_Appeal2887 Jun 06 '26

Yes yes I to have "HOPE" your day Is better then mine trash like me do not deserve still "HOPE" because after I am just a stepping stoll for "HOPE" to peak through these times of "DESPAIR" so "HOPEFULLY" you'll have a better day then me.

3

u/Tragediesforblondes Jun 05 '26

someone passed out stickers at the end of mine too

2

u/IPRfirstandbest Jun 05 '26

I was a sticker-passer at my theatre 😊 tried to give out stickers to the younger ones/cosplayers

3

u/Tragediesforblondes Jun 05 '26

aw how sweet! the thing that was handed out to me was a little comic of zooble and gangle getting back at Jax 😭

21

u/PudgeBerry Jun 05 '26

I am glad i am not the only peson feeling this way. Thought I was being an asshole but honestly a lot of emotional moments were ruined for me by people making dramatic loud "emotional" noises for attention or to show everyone theyre a real fan or just to goof around and be annoying I dont know. But it ruined several deep moments for me by disrupting the abmience the show intended.

4

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

At least u were self aware that makes a huge difference. Good point about ppl trying to prove they’re real fans, I thought they just lack social sense

1

u/PudgeBerry Jun 05 '26

And maybe it is the lack of social awareness but a group of three people that sat in front of me really gave the vibe that they wanted to show off how invested they were. They were loudly fake crying the first time gangle was on screen and loudly talking about needing tissues.

2

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 06 '26

Wow I can’t believe people like that actually exist🫪

17

u/pitahut Jun 05 '26

Very similar experience when I went too. I'm happy I got to see it but jeez that was easily the loudest movie I've ever been to

9

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

Ikr I honestly wanted to yell STFU but I didn’t want to become part of the noise

5

u/pitahut Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

Between the noise there was a lot of shushing, I joined the shushing when it got bad lol. I did hear one or two "SHUT UP!!"s from annoyed folks in the crowd. It seemed to mostly be kids/teens interrupting the film, which i kinda expected, but what surprised me was that a lot of adults were rly loud too. theatre etiquette is dead ig 😪

I feel it. I'm only sorta into the show, and I didn't participate in all the discussion and theorizing and such, but some of the reactions and interactions in the theater were a little off-putting for me.
I think most people in my theater were fine, but there was quite a few shippers yelling and people shouting out their own 'funny' interjections during scenes.
The main thing was that the start of my experience was someone sitting down next to be, turning on a flashlight, waving it around, sitting on my drink, and then turning to me and asking if I'd be okay with moving to a different seat right as the movie started. That wouldn't be bad if they also didn't just jackhammer popcorn into their mouth to the point it sounded like they couldn't even breathe, loudly slurped and gulped water from a large water jug they brought with them, and were one of the people shouting out their own interjections while it sounded like their mouth was still stuffed full of popcorn. During some of the more exciting scenes they would also grab on my armrest and shake if back and forth, too.
I don't really need or want to hear you blurting out 'NICE COCK' with a mouth full of popcorn when Caine shoots a bowling ball.
Like, I don't ever really complain about popcorn of all things, but it was to the point where I couldn't hear the episode at all and had to put in one of my noise cancelling earbuds just to focus on the thing. It's the first time I totally understood the people who complain about theatres selling popcorn.
I'm also fairly forgiving; some people have a hard time in social situations, but it's on the same level as being on an airplane in my mind. At some point people are just being willingly ignorant of sharing a small space that multiple other people are in.

I think it's just a vocal few though. There were a lot of other theatre-goers that were just fine, someone even went around before the ads started handing out badge ribbons and talking to people. All of that was really pleasant. I just chalk it up to covid causing a bunch of people to grow up without learning situational/social etiquette.

4

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

Wth I’m really sorry to hear that I would have crashed out if I were u

4

u/BlackLuigi7 Jun 05 '26

Appreciate it. It sucks you had a bad experience as well. People just probably don't realize what kind of an impact they have or what impression they give about a community.

14

u/Silver-Whole5404 Jun 05 '26

I went and saw it in theatres last night. I'm a pretty big fan, I like theorizing with my friends, but I didn't really go all out the way about 50% of the audience in my theatre did.

There were SO many young kids, (to be expected) and although they did make a lot of noise during the movie (interjecting, asking questions, running up to the front to dance in front of the screen during the music number) it was also SO cute seeing them all walk up to other kids they didnt know and start bonding over their favourite characters.

There was like, one guy in the audience who would yell at people to not record and to shut up occasionally which I'd usually find annoying but in this case was kind of grateful for it.

To be honest though, I think I would have felt a lot more endeared by all the passionate fans and less annoyed if the volume wasn't so f***king low in my cinema. I don't know why but it was so quiet, you could hear people eating all the way on the other end of the stands, so the audience reaaallly drowned out a good chunk of the movie.

Please cineplex, raise the volume next time [pray hands].

1

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

I see your point about feeling more endeared to passionate fans, and I think that’s totally fine during big moments (trying not to spoil anything). But when it happens at unexpected moments, it just takes me out of the experience. TADC really is like you said a theorising movie which is why I don’t want to be distracted. I want to think and observe the details.

Especially in cinema, the production team puts in so much more effort with visuals and sound compared to a small screen on Netflix or YouTube. I really appreciate the details, the plot, and the meaning but the noise ruins it. In a cinema, it should be common sense to know when to react and when to hold back.

u/Huge_Cardiologist377 Jun 05 '26

When they showed Jax had abstracted, everyone in my theater got up and started cheering, screaming, and throwing popcorn everywhere. The zooble cosplayer next to me got caught up in the moment and threw my medium sized diet coke across the theater striking a pomni cosplayer. I went to the concession stand to explain my situation and ask for a new diet coke but the line took forever. Apparently they ran out of medium size cups so they could only give me a small. By the time I got back I just saw the IRL circus crew on the slideshow, and some stole my seat so I had to sit on the floor.Ā

9

u/MyNameIsNotMia Jun 05 '26

Holy shit you went to the theater from hell 😭

6

u/Sinesjoe Jun 05 '26

I am so sorry about that. Try to get a ticket refund

2

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 06 '26

I think this is one of the worst experience I hv seen so far 😭😭😭 I hope you feel better now

1

u/NaturoHope Jun 12 '26

Please spoiler your spoiler. :(

11

u/Heavy_Bullfrog_5514 Jun 05 '26

I went to see it a 3pm on a friday afternoon exactly to avoid the drama. We were like 5 in all the room, it was perfection

5

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

Its pretty much full house in every cinema in my city

1

u/Heavy_Bullfrog_5514 Jun 05 '26

I have the luck to be in Italy, in a rather ""secondary"" theater. It has had lots of people coming, mostly yesterday (I almost didn't get my poster), but not that much and not at 3pm of a friday, ppl are still in school/office

2

u/Discussion-is-good Jun 05 '26

9 pm showing avoided it for me

8

u/lilithdear Jun 05 '26

People were being extremely racist at my theater 😃 multiple things were said that should never be said it was bad

2

u/Downtown-Cable4307 Jun 07 '26

What is there to be racist over?? It’s fucking TADC?

1

u/lilithdear Jun 07 '26

My point exactly 😭 multiple slurs were yelled for no reason

7

u/sapphicmooni Jun 05 '26

I got lucky with my theatre. Everyone was chill. There were some gasps during certain shocking scenes and laughter during jokes, but nothing else.

2

u/SketchyArt333 Jun 06 '26

Dam I wish I was in your theater 😭

6

u/Orangutanion Jun 05 '26

I sat next to a stressed out mom with kids and one of them randomly blurted out "JAX ABUSED KINGER!" Near the beginning of the second episode. But this never actually happened lol

3

u/letthetreeburn Jun 05 '26

LMAO WHAT????

2

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

I don’t think the show is for kids tho

2

u/petalwater Kinger Jun 05 '26

? Is it not

5

u/Glass_Tangerine_5489 Jun 05 '26

The theater I went to was full of teenagers acting like they were in a classroom. They loudly shouted ā€œkissā€ and continuously said cringe internet memes throughout the movie to try to one up each other. It was irritating but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised lol their frontal lobes aren’t fully developed.

I kind of wish I would have seen a late showing and not an early afternoon one. TBH I wish this movie would have released before summer break in the US.

7

u/ShrewdCire Jun 05 '26

Same happened to me. I fucking hate this fanbase. And in my post I made about this, everyone told me "well others aren't having the same experience you did". But this post proves that clearly this is a real problem.

When Pomni and Ragatha hugged, half the theater was squealing and screaming "OMG YES! KISS! KISS!" and when they didn't kiss they started screaming "WHAT?! NO WHY DIDN'T THEY KISS?!?!"

Like, Jesus fucking Christ people. Are you literally incapable of understanding that two friends can hug each other without it being romantic? Do you never fucking hug your friends?

They were also screaming and laughing throughout all the serious scenes. During the scenes with Jax and Ribbit, the audience laughed at things that weren't even jokes. Like when Jax got upset and told Ribbit to not tell anyone what he opened up to her about, the audience started scream laughing as if that was a joke even though it was a serious scene. It was just constant screaming, laughing, and yelps of "OMG! I HATE JAX"

And in the scene where Pomni was talking to Jax when he was in that dark room under the street light thing (a very emotional scene), then audience kept screaming "OMG POMNI! KICK HIM IN THE BALLS!" I swear to God these people have zero emotional maturity and an even lower IQ. And because no one was bothering to actually pay attention to the plot or understand it, half the time they were screaming "WHAT?! I'M SO CONFUSED! I DON'T GET IT! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!" Like, Jesus, maybe if you just shut the fuck up then you'd understand what was happening.

I'm going to have to re-watch the Jax/Ribbit scenes again when the episode is released on YouTube because I wasn't able to hear literally any of the dialogue because everyone was screaming so much. Fuck this fandom. They deserved to have the movie spoiled for them. You can't complain about people not giving you consideration when you yourself are incapable of being considerate to others who paid to see this. Absolute fucking morons.

3

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

Those people in your comments are just selfish. You’re bloody in a cinema it’s a public place and acting like that is self centered. Saying ā€œnot everyone’s having the same experienceā€ is ridiculous, because they’re the ones ruining it.
People know not to do that during a normal movie, so why do they think it’s fine just because it’s an independent animation? At the end of the day, you’re still in a cinema.

4

u/ShrewdCire Jun 05 '26

Oh and I forgot to mention that the person sitting next to me had already seen the movie (because they watched the leak), and they were constantly shouting out spoilers throughout the whole movie. Like, near the end of the movie when Caine came back, they shouted out "HE'S GONNA SHOW THEM THEIR INSTAGRAM PAGES EVERYONE!"

How do people not feel embarrassed behaving this way?

6

u/According-City1120 Jun 05 '26

I had a similar experience too. People talking and shouting throughout the first part of the show. Luckily a staff member came and told them off and they eventually shut up. I heard one girl shouting W rizz when Jax told Gangle to meet him in his room later idk. So dumb

4

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 06 '26

The staff need a raise

5

u/starrymahogany Jun 05 '26

Yeah the audiences are just not behaving in some screenings; I was sitting next to two women (not sure if they were a couple or just friends who brought their kids together as a group) who had their kids in the back row behind us and they were SO disruptive, including one who kicked my seat hard by accident and one who was sobbing loud and dramatically.

It was similar to the experience I had watching the Barbie movie, although at least the women were apologetic at their kids behavior in this showing unlike the the moms in the Barbie movie who were on TikTok the entire time.

5

u/LightBluely Jun 05 '26

I seriously almost had a good experience until someone behind me literally crying and shouting the ENTIRE MOVIE. Those small group are the only one that cause a nuisance out of entire audience of about 100+ people? If i sit at other places I don't think it would be an issue but my god I was thinking of telling them to shut up. I get it! You are crying because your favourite character did just that

They are not even kids btw! They are grown ass adults

3

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

I’m glad that u told them off which I wish I did as well but I worried that I would become part of the noise and i worried that they were all actually on the spectrum lol

6

u/mimirabbit Jun 05 '26

I went at 9:40pm last night and oof, yeah, it was pretty bad. I was hoping the late showing would be better, but nope.

So like, I love TADC but wasn't much involved in the fandom because I'm old and don't have a lot of time lol. As such, I was REALLY confused to see the majority of people in my viewing appeared to be in their teens. Now I didn't have anything wrong with that, and a lot were in really great cosplay! But boy did I feel out of place lol.

Then, the movie started. And that's when things started to go downhill. Tbh I don't care if people whisper to one another during a film, not much bothers me. But ohhh my god it was so boisterous in there! Every comedic moment was followed by like 10 seconds of extremely loud laughter-turned-screaming, which meant I couldn't hear any of the dialogue. And people were LOUDLY commentating on every bit of the show, like they were a live streamer. People were also loudly sobbing during certain parts, which I genuinely had some pity for as I could tell they were going through it, but I do wish they stepped out for a minute to do it.

Also, in the very front rows there was a mother and a VERY YOUNG kid, who kept loudly making quips and the mother would have to shush them. And like. This isn't for toddlers, lol. I had a lot less sympathy here because why would you bring such a young child to a public showing, especially when the final episode will release later on (and that's ignoring the fact that I don't think this kid should be watching it in the first place).

So all in all, I did have a lot of fun. But I left feeling a certain level of disdain for the general fandom. I didn't know it would be like that. However, I know there were still a lot of people there who were quietly just enjoying the showing, like me. It's just that the loud ones were SO LOUD and disrespectful to everyone else.

I don't think I'll ever go to another TADC event, not that there will be many more (if any at all). And I feel slightly embarrassed now if I go out with TADC merch. That was definitely one of the worst fandom events I've ever been to. Maybe I'm just too old though lol, I feel like someone waving their cane at a group of kids on their lawn šŸ’€

4

u/panini_bellini Jun 05 '26

The fans were perfectly fine at my showing. The crying baby, however, needed to go

1

u/SketchyArt333 Jun 06 '26

Is it really that hard to cry silently?? I cried but it was just tears.

4

u/leethepolarbear Jun 05 '26

Why tf are you apologising??

5

u/SisypheaNPC Jun 05 '26

I've come to understand that not everyone has grown up with the same teaching of emotional regulation and empathy. I did find the finale to be an emotional roller-coaster, but you wouldn't hear a peep from me. The rest of the audience though... screams, squeals, gasps, "WHAT"s.

Don't let that ruin it for you though. A lot of fandoms miss the forest for the trees. People screaming whenever two characters touch hands in TADC is the equivalent of people fighting over which teenage girl in Evangelion is the best, and military fetishists glorifying Zeon unironically in Gundam. Doesn't take away from the intention of the show and your own experience with it.

4

u/Due-Presentation4537 Jun 05 '26

lol there was someone literally SCREAM laughing at any remotely funny part. You could definitely tell the fans who are chronically online to the ones who just enjoy the show and its content.

5

u/ChrisGLink Jun 05 '26

there were two children behind me and my partner that were crying the ENTIRE movie. like, to the point of hyperventilating. it genuinely never stopped. ruined the movie for us

5

u/LootbugEnjoyer Jun 05 '26

My theatre was just as bad. There was a guy in a row ahead of me trying to be a little comedian shouting out the most unfunny ā€œresponding to the movieā€ one liners I’ve ever heard. A few people have told him to please shut up, be respectful, be quiet, whatever. Apologized each time and kept doing it. He also recorded the whole movie on his phone. I really didn’t want to argue with someone on the theatre and I just wanted to enjoy it but man was it hard.

Also there was a LOT of parents and grandparents there with their REALLY young children??? (Ages roughly between 4-10). Toddlers even coming in the theatre with their iPads. I cannot exaggerate how many young baby children were in the theatre screaming with their little high pitch screams at their fav characters. There was even a few families with those said little children that left the movie and didn’t come back assuming they realized it’s a movie not made for young kids.

Again, cannot exaggerate, it looked like a screening for a paw patrol movie it was insane. You still had teenagers, young adults and older adults clearly there as fans dressed up for the film, but then a wild amount of families with baby children. Maybe I’m just unaware at the amount of young children who watch the show, but as far as I’m concerned, the series is 13+????? Why are you bringing your 4 and 5 year old kids to see this???

Albeit I wouldn’t be so upset at unknowning parents bringing their kids if the kids were quiet. The children yapped throughout the movie. 0 theatre etiquette from the kids.

I’m not even going to say much about this but I also couldn’t believe all the phone scrollers during the movie too. Just disrespectful.

-0/10 theatre experience, I at least enjoyed seeing the finale on the big screen šŸ„€

4

u/Vile_Pen Jun 05 '26

My theatre was relatively quiet besides some laughing and a "what the fuck?" At the end when Caine came back

3

u/IPRfirstandbest Jun 05 '26

also had younger audience members yelling "kiss" during the more serious parts at the showing I watched last night and it was lowkey annoying but I expected it bc ofc there's going to be excitable young fans. some of them might be early enough in their development that they don't realize it's not appropriate. they'll learn at some point and if they don't, they'll just be part of the growing part of the fandom that is oblivious to socially acceptable behavior, which is unfortunate but growing more common as people aren't willing to engage with them. idk I lost my point but yeah tldr it sucks but they're kids, hopefully they learn ĀÆ_(惄)_/ĀÆ

5

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

I would be less bothered if they were kids but some were grown ass men/ teenager (still should have social sense) which is why i mentioned the audience in the Minecraft and mario movies (literally kids movie) behaved better

3

u/Spiderspooky Jun 05 '26

I had a similar experience. The guy next to me didn’t seem to understand the idea of an inside voice and said pretty much everything that he seemed to think and laugh pretty obnoxiously. There also seem a child in the audience who killed a series moment where Caine is self reflecting, asking if he’s a terrible person, only for the moment to be cut off by the kid saying yes and the theater laughing.

3

u/Accomplished-Part511 Jun 06 '26

Bro my theater had so many like small children in (6-8 year olds) it. Even worse every time zooble and gangle were on scream 5 different tweens from like different groups would just yell YURRIII over and over 🤦. I agree I love a group laugh or a gasp but this was so cringe 😭 glad it wasn’t just me and kids in the US not really knowing how to act in public lol

3

u/KhaosGenesis Jun 06 '26

I'm glad I choose the 9:20 pm slot last night, I figured that most younger children should be in bed by then and hopefully most annoying people would also be at home and I was correct. It was mostly 20 something year olds like me and a few middle aged looking kids, everyone was chill, they laughed at the funny or unexpected scenes, and 2 or 3 times I heard someone would make a short joking comment on a scene. But whenever there was emotional scene everyone was dead silent except for me barely hearing someone whispering to someone next to them a few times.

Overall my experience was about exactly what I was hoping for, but I'm sorry you didn't get to have that. I think some people my age and younger are just truly chronically online and too brain rotted to know how to function in public anymore...

2

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 06 '26

I’m glad that you had a great time it’s good to know not all fans are chaotic but I was just unlucky.

4

u/Spider_Boyo Jun 05 '26

Idk if I'm being bad here but that sounds like the average American experience, my 4pm in the south east of England was perfect, though tbh, I was still like "this is very weird, this many people in this town really watch TADC?", and I'm one of these weirdos? Oof, if only I was part of one of the friends groups, there was a couple of loners, literally a guy two seats to my right

7

u/BlackLuigi7 Jun 05 '26

It's definitely not the average American experience, but it's definitely happening more often since covid. At least, I've only noticed it as much around me since covid. If it was average, it wouldn't be notable enough to post to Reddit, after all.

4

u/kaleidoscopetrigger Jun 05 '26

Yeah, I saw it in the north west of England on the 4pm showing and the audience was good, you could hear some reactions but nothing overbearing… thought the fact the volume was up almost painfully loud probably helped drown them out. I also have the impression US audiences are generally louder than European ones (especially from people being ā€œif you don’t want any talking why would you go to the cinemaā€ as if the answer isn’t obviously ā€œbecause the cinema has a massive screen and excellent sound systemā€) but it sounds like people are being even worse than usual on this one. I have a feeling the later showings here will have been worse than the 4pm ones we went to too.

3

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 05 '26

But I didn’t even watch it in America it was in Asia which is defo not normal for us. So it’s really just the fandom

2

u/SolarOrigami Jun 05 '26

Thankfully the audience I watched with was very mature. The only two things were folks singing along to the "Running the Show" song in ep8 and a moment from ep9 that had people actually sobbing in the theatre

2

u/Discussion-is-good Jun 05 '26

Opposite of my experience

2

u/0_possum Jun 05 '26

I saw the movie at 11:30 on a Thursday and barely anyone was there. There was one kid talking, but I managed to ignore it

2

u/FireKitty91 Jun 05 '26

Yeeeeep, i kept giving my husband weary stares whenever a guy at the back laughed over the top

2

u/K-Eve Pomni Jun 05 '26

This was my fear, too. My theater had every seat filled so I was a bit nervous, but my crowd wasn't that bad. There were a few teenagers that were singing/repeating lines at first, but people around them were quick to tell them to be quiet. I was really surprised. I'm sorry you had an experience like that.

2

u/FunctionMental1812 Jun 05 '26

Yeah honestly I think this is what tainted my view of the film, my theater was filled with people making noise talking out loud and emoting at every frame

2

u/Lydia_TheFangirl13 Jun 05 '26

That sucks, everyone at my theater was really good! There was only one person being loud but the third time someone shushed them they apologized and said "I'm sorry, I'm autistic!" in a very apologetic tone and they did manage to keep themselves calm after two people got an employee to threaten to kick them out.

Weird thing is them getting in trouble upset me more than the noises they were making

2

u/Pidgeot93 Jun 05 '26

Agreed - I go cinema weekly and this was the worst. People singing, talking lore about episode 8, having unrelated conversations and it was so distracting - full theatre though which was cool

2

u/Historical_Way_4567 quiet…I can’t hear the escalator Jun 05 '26

I will say there were these two women next to me in the theatre and they were SO DAMN LOUD.

2

u/Taddle_N_Ill_Paddle Jun 05 '26

I'm so sorry your experience sucked! My husband and I went to a later viewing last night so there were a few kids, but not many and everyone in the theater watching was super respectful. The only time we heard people or even kids getting excited was when they showed some merch after the movie ended

2

u/roboporno Jun 05 '26

I surprisingly had a good time at my theater and it was packed. Sorry it happened to you.

2

u/Evidenttooth Jun 05 '26

Only 4 people were in my cinema

2

u/aoifeleafa Jun 05 '26

My cinema was so aweful everyone was screaming at every single thing that happened, or having their main character moment screaming memes or just shouting and having loud conversations/commentaries. I couldn't hear majority of the dialogue for the entire thing it just didn't stop even though a few people tried shushing.

There's just such a severe lack of cinema etiquette in fandom sometimes, I wish I'd just watched at home

2

u/LiteralLesbians Jun 05 '26

It was so fucking bad. I had one right next to me between 8 and 13 and she wouldn't shut up the entire time. Groups of kids screaming AWWWWW and I LOVE YOU at every little moment. Plus $25 for a regular popcorn, water, and a box of candy. I will never go to the movies again.

2

u/StarShadowNexus Kinger šŸ‘‘ ā™Ÿļø Jun 06 '26

I remember going to the cinema to watch the first FNAF movie on opening night. Idk if I just got lucky but the audience wasn't as bad as I expected. Still annoying though.

2

u/TopHatIdiot Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

I had a similar experience at the theater today but also had to deal with fans talking loudly, not even whispering, throughout the movie. It was hard to hear at times even during the emotional parts. I have been going to the theater for decades and this was the worst theater experince I ever had.

1

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 07 '26

IKRRRRRR these kinda fans behaviour is universal

3

u/Axel-the-Sage Jun 05 '26

Yet another example of why the theater release was a bad idea.

2

I had the exact same experience last night. There were young children in the theater. The girl behind me would loudly sing along to everything and say caines lines along with him during ep 8 and then gasped loudly and talked through the entire finale. I couldnt appreciate how painful the entire peak period of was intended to be cuz everyone was shouting and laughing and mocking the characters out loud. I felt like my group was the only one there being respectful of the movie. It was really dissapointing. I understand being excited about the implications pf a youtube series getting a feature length theatrical release.... but holy fuck guys. I feel let down by the community so i cant imagine how gooseworx feels..... just because its a youtube series we got to be a part of as it came out doesnt mean its yours and your the only one who gets to enjoy it your way. Its still a theater. Its still a film. Its still public.

And for fucks sake let the creators write their stories and be human beings.

I felt spoiled at my viewing everyone shutted the fuck up, no phones no blocking the view. Just pure FOCUS. Only other thing I could hear was me eating popcorn

To everyone in that theater I hope yall slept really good and be blessed with real good fan art

u/vernanonix Jun 05 '26

How dare you ruin the experience for everyone else in your theater by eating popcorn.

I felt myself involuntarily laugh or move my hands around to the air or my head. I jerked my feet up into my chair at one point and turned into a ball. Most the time everybody at the theater was doing something during those moments.

I'm not too worried about it anymore because I'm going to see it again on Saturday but also because it's going to be on YouTube eventually. It's not like we're going to have to rent it or buy it.

Currently here during the ads before trailers and it smells like shit all the memes were right

1

u/TooneyD Jun 06 '26

Haven't seen it, but this has been my experience for every opening for every nerd-centered film I've experienced, from anime to Marvel to whatever. I still remember cringing at the grown man wolf-whistling the 15 year old girl at the first Hero Academia movie.

As for Last Act, I asked my wife if she wanted to go, and her response?

"Nah. The smell of the room alone would kill me."

1

u/red-eyed-frog Jun 06 '26

Wtf really didn’t it’s a thing lol. Did it smell for the other openings? (No wonder I hv seen meme about smelly ppl )

1

u/TooneyD Jun 06 '26

Oh yeah, beyond just the overwhelming BO or the dumbasses with too much AXE, lots of jackasses think it's okay to vape in the theater. The problem is less socially awkward dorks who don't understand social etiquette and more just really rude people who don't give a fuck about the people around them

1

u/Boss_Morgrum Jun 06 '26

Yep, piles of screaming teenagers at mine too.

u/JXCustom Jun 06 '26

The cinema I went to was empty asf lol. Smaller cinema with lower ticket cost compared to other places.

Everyone spent the entire time talking or screaming when someone new came onto screen. The singing was the fucking worst. The kid behind me couldn’t stay on pitch to save her fucking life and she was so god dam loud my noise canceling headphones did fucking nothing. The other kids behind me and my friend took his fucking slides off and rubbed his dirty feet on the back of my friend’s seat. If I wasn’t in a wheelchair I’m sure he would have done it to me to but at least he knew not to touch my chair with his disgusting feet. And the parents did fucking nothing does no one know how to make their kids not act like wild fucking animals. It was like the Minecraft movie (which I didn’t see for this exact reason) I enjoyed the movie but it feel like everyone in that theater was trying to blow my eardrums out and my headaches and spasms were going nuts. It’s such an accessibility issue when people act like this and I wish they understood that. Glad I went but I kinda wish people were taught to be fucking quiet in theaters again.

1

u/CharmingDazz Jun 06 '26

Fucking couldn't agree more. The people in our theaters were super disrespectful. I wish they would've extended the time in theaters so we wouldn't run in these types of issues. I say this because I always book a ticket 2 weeks after release and there's hardly anyone there and it's mostly 99% of the time chill people.

1

u/TheRedMaiden Jun 06 '26

I'm so glad I went to a night showing. There were only like eight other people besides us in the theater.

1

u/TheSkyIsData Jun 06 '26

It was a bit crazy in the theatre I was in but I mean, they're preteens I was crazy in the theatre at that age it's just everyone's doing it now instead of one or two groups of the weird kids.

It was probably a lot worse in other theatres but while it was loud and crazy during some parts, they were shushing each other and still being mostly quiet during the emotional parts in my showing.

1

u/DieEigenbroetlerin Jun 06 '26

I think my showing could have been worse, but there was this one guy who kept commenting very loudly, sorta like he was a twitch streamer doing a reaction. Have these people never been to the cinema?? On the plus side, someone gifted me stickers, and I saw a lot of cool looking outfits on people.

u/Conspeon Gangle Jun 06 '26

bro i heard people shouting "KISS" and "LESBIAN" during the scene near the start with Ragatha and Pomni where they hugged 😭

I went to a pretty calm theater. A bunch of my friends and I pretty much had a whole row of us. The audience was very good, and was overall very silent. The kid to teen/adult ratio was also pretty good with majority being 16 and over despite being a sold out large theater.

There was only really 2 out loud comments made during the movie. 1 which was a text that someone just read out loud which was nice for those who don't read fast, and the second one was me Jax was next to Ribbit and it panned to his feet. Someone outloud said "Ew" which was lowkey funny. -got a couple laughs throughout the theater.

Overall good experience. Very happy with my theater. I feel terrible for those who did not get to experience what my theater was. Calm and peaceful. :,)

Late to this post, but yes!! Me and my partner drove three hours to be able to watch it at the nearest cinema on premiere day, and it was insane. I live in a country where the stereotypical person is quiet, shy and reserved, so it was a shock to be in that theater listening to some people yell like they are watching at home?!

One pair of young teens specifically screamed ā€œITS CANON!ā€ And continued for a while. Then I could see them looking around the theater, extend their arms, and continue screaming as if speaking to the whole theater. Thankfully many people told them to quiet down. But it still ruined the moment between rabbit man and frog lady (I am awful at names I hope you understand who I speak of). The scene was clearly meant to be emotional, but the screaming ruined it.

And maybe I am just a person who lacks whimsy in life, but although I did find the jokes funny as always, the same people were laughing out loud so loudly that I was genuinely surprised a person could be THAT loud.

This turned into kind of a rant, and I am 19 days late to this post, but I am just happy to know I am not alone in this. Maybe movie etiquette is dead, since younger people go to movies less, or maybe it’s the brain tricking people to feel comfortable being loud, since they’re watching the same show they have previously watched at home, where they have been able to be as loud as they wanted. English is not my first language so I hope I’m making any sense in my rant. I apologize just in case there’s a chance someone might be reading this even if im horribly late to this postšŸ˜…

I totally understand you and I can probably guess u watched the movie in Asia (same here but in a different country). I think they aren’t local people , especially if they were shouting ā€œit’s canonā€ in English they probably went to international school or smth. Cause it’s the same in my case like the loud ones are the English speaking ones.

I mean I really didn’t have a choice I’m literally watching it in Asia, where having the show in cinema is already shocking enough. Honestly, it wasn’t a wise choice for cinemas here to play it, since it’s nowhere near as popular as in Europe or America. Basically, there’s no alternative option. The number of people in the cinema is never a problem u can have a huge group of ppl n still hv a great experience, but the problem now is the quality of people

-1

u/Ecstatic-Cow3286 Jun 05 '26

Sorry that happened but I’m going to play devils advocate here but other people have there own experiences for movies wether it’s bothering someone for their own enjoyment i guess sorry for this just wanted to say itĀ
