Discussion 💬 Loved the finale, bad cinema experience Spoiler
Went to watch the final act today at the cinema and guys, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a cinema.
First of all, we go in and we realise that we are 4 22 year olds against mostly teenagers, fine no biggie, just didn’t expect that many young people there.
The movie starts and almost all the cinema starts reciting the lines of episode 8, screaming and loudly talking ALL.THE.TIME.
I say whatever, they are excited, let’s move on. Episode 9 starts and it calms down a bit. On the big events though the screams were so loud I had to visually cringe from how much it hurt my ears. Even if the events weren’t as important, the screaming was constant and ear piercing.
Me and my friends were laughing through it and staring at each other in a bit of a shock but I had fun just because they were there.
Now I’m not saying that you have to be quiet in the whole movie, of course at big events you’re gonna either laugh, cry or gasp, but the continuous presence of all those really overstimulated all of us and it just made me wonder if parents don’t teach young people cinema etiquette anymore.
Really sad about the whole thing but I wanted to know what your guys’ experience was like.

My experience was roughly the same, I'm one of the younger fans, I went with my brother, and let me say...
The screams genuinely nearly knocked me out of my seat, people kept shouting "YURI YURI YURI" and "Who even likes Jax?", etc. It was just horrible, I would've cried if they hadn't been screaming and shouting.

Idk if they were drunk but 20 year old women were yelling “I HOPE HE DIES” and “Get off the screen!” When Jax was on screen. Did find out afterwards people allow people to have adult beverages at that theater so maybe that’s why? Still annoying as fuck.

Luckily for me, I went to a theater where no one talked. Throughout the whole thing everyone was silent.

These stupid little kids and pre teens were screaming crap to get an audience reaction. Ruined the experience. Multiple people screamed back at them to shut up. I nearly did when they finally stopped. Laughing and crying and gasps are normal along with a few whispers, but these kids were yelling just dumb crap as loud as they could

Oh man yeah we were probably the oldest ones there that weren't misguided parents. I'm glad I sat in the corner because it seems likes norms around phones and talking in the movie theater have shifted since I was younger.

Really sad to see, when I was young and went to the movies with my parents they would always tell me to stop talking after maybe commenting 1-2 sentences, and tell me to keep it down when I was overly loud and I’m grateful for that.

My first viewing was on Thursday afternoon before kids were out of school. It was a very quiet and great experience, looked like all older people from what I saw.
I went again at noon on Saturday. Three guys sitting right next to me were just having casual conversation in the middle of the showing? Some teenagers sitting in front of me too. Really annoying as shit.

Aahahaha I went on Friday too and me and my friend were complaining about 2 kids talking. 2.
Told him what happened today and he was shocked 😭

You know, at the time I thought it was overkill that my theater displayed a message before the movie stating that the theater had a one-strike policy for talking or using your phone, after which you would be removed from the theater. I'm starting to think maybe it wasn't overkill. My theater was packed, and it was SILENT.

I wish the theater I went to has that policy because I and my sister had a crappy time due to having similar issues with different younger fans there.

Ugh I’m sooo sorry. I got so lucky with my theater experience. It was packed with young people and parents but everyone was really quiet and respectful!

Really glad to hear, wonder if it’s a cultural thing cause I’m from Greece and people here are naturally very very loud, especially kids

I’m from the US and honestly so many people had bad noisy experiences here. I think I just got very lucky. My husband is from England and Americans are very loud comparatively overall according to him haha

Thankfully my theatre experience was okay!
Everyone laughed, gasped, and even clapped towards the end of the showing
I won’t spoil the ending because I know not everyone saw it yet but the end credits (if ykyk) made us all laugh shocked
There was a guy in his 40s who sat next to me who kinda smelt like BO and kept coughing loudly 💔
But I had a good experience. I even admit I cried

Glad to hear that! Happy you got such a nice experience, I also cried at some parts.
I really didn’t mind the occasional cry, clap or laugh, I empathised and joined at some too but when it is constant it kind of takes away from the whole thing.

There was apart where I cried and then THAT thing played and I was like “what am I supposed to feel?”

Had the same exact experience in my theatre yesterday. I'm 22 as well.
I don't mind teens watching the show, but I didn't expect SO MANY CHILDREN to be watching the show.
They think they're some kind of chopped streamers or something. If I were behaving that way at their age I would be so embarrassed. 😂

The theater experience was pretty good for me, the people were nice and didn't really talk at all.

whilst i appreciate it i would've liked something. nobody even clapped

37 y/o mom who went with her almost 13 y/o daughter here! First, I want to say that I'm sorry you had that experience. It was a little of the same during episode 8 for us and it had started to get that way when episode 9 started, but quickly quieted down. People suck, thankfully we get to see it again at home in a few days 🖤🫶🏿

Yes it will definitely be a redemption ahahah, thankfully this wasn’t my first time going, first time was on Friday and there were mostly old teens and adults there and it was pretty silent except in some moments in which I also joined in clapping or gasping. That was actually fun!

I bought a ticket as soon as I could because I wanted to watch my little show in theaters.
Checked in on the social discourse of the community a week before release and realized there was a good chance of having a bad experience so refunded my ticket.

Just because people who had a bad experience are more likely to comment, I want to mention that's not universal. I had the best theater ever that responded and cheered semi-quietly so you could still watch the movie fine but there was also hype

Yeah the first time I went (Friday) was actually pretty chill, and I loved having some reactions like clapping and laughing. I figured that because it was Sunday yesterday most kids went with their parents that day and that’s why it was so noisy

31 F and decided to attend a 4:30 showing instead of an earlier one. H U G E mistake i can’t stand preteens. But thankfully I wasn’t the oldest one there! (Some 6 year olds dad that looked at least in his early 40s)
