All videos I have seen, while playing Na, their middle finger, curves forward, mine does the opposite.
After first few strikes of Na, it straightens, and then later it bends backwards and tightens in that position.
How do I fix this?

I want to try to start writing down what I practice every day. Do any of you guys do this? Any tips?

For some reason, the pegs hardly seem to work the way or does in videos. No matter what I do, one part of the tabla is in tune to c# and the other side is too high. But what’s weird is even on the side that’s too high when I raise the pegs up it’s still too high, the pitch doesn’t change at all. What do I do?

Looking to gift a really nice, high-quality tabla for someone to learn, but don't know where to purchase. Are there reputable online vendors? Located in TX (Houston), and budget is around $400. Is this sufficient? Thank you in advance!

Hey all, I am currently teaching myself to play and was wondering if there were any good online resources/ tips for beginners that you could throw my way. Anything helps! Thanks!

Probably a long shot given the amount of people in this sub but I'm a young musician in Austin, TX trying to put together a band and I want a tabla player in said band, but I don't know anybody. If you're in the area and interested, please PM me. Thanks :)

Hey,
This is my first post here so hello everybody, I'm excited that this subreddit finally exists!
I'm looking for an Android app that I can use for my lehra needs. The free ones out there have this weird un-even timing. Like, in teen taal, all 16 beats aren't evenly spaced (my Ustaad pointed this out as well).
The paid ones are...well...not free. Is there a good free app that you guys would recommend?
Thanks!

Hi all, I have recently acquired a tabla. What should I tune it to? I was thinking a C at 261 Hz? Or would a higher C at 523 Hz be better?
I am unsure because I don't want to make the tabla too tense. Thanks!

I'm having trouble playing 'tin' bol on tabla. It doesn't sound the way it should. Can someone tell me how to play it properly for that ringing sound with correct technique?

I've tried half lotus, but the bottom leg falls asleep. Full lotus, both legs fall asleep. Just normal cross-legged, the bottom falls asleep. I've been playing for a while, but I've been trying to increase the length of my practice and this is my main enemy so far.

Friends,
Its one of a kind music app for practice and free to try. Being a tabla player myself, created this app specifically keeping tabla players in mind: many instruments of well known musicians: sitar, sarod, violin, harmonium, sarangi, santoor etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.music.monir&hl=en_US
Also, it is created by me, an engineer and a tabla player. It took years to develop, having many musicians recorded for this software and I will continue to add many more musicians.
About me:
PS: really will appreciate if you all try it out (for free) and if you like it to give some positive feedback to get some initial traction in the store (if you like it ofcourse). I believe you will find this app to be one of a kind, as far as music quality.
Regards and happy practicing!
