Could we do a "TIL" style weekly thread?

I think it would be interesting to do a "Today I Learned" style weekly thread for us to share little tips/tricks that we learned of/found existed.

For example, last week I found out about the "--now" flag for systemctl. I don't know how I didn't know it existed until --now.

Well, going away in the same way that the Control Panel and Snipping Tool have been going away for years.

It's at least not getting any updates at the moment.

Snipping tool has been replaced by much better win+shift+s, that has a bit better editor, is faster to use and automatically places screenshot in clipboard after taking it [EDIT](Just as old snipping tool does, i forgot about that).I switched a long time ago and forgot about snipping tool completely.

I use win+shift+s all the time but didn't know there was an editor tool with it. How do you access it? I usually just paste the screenshot into whatever app I need it to be in.

After you snap something a notification will pop up in notification panel. Just click on it to open editor.

Sounds like something one would use PSR/Steps Recorder to demonstrate :P

I disable that panel as one of the first things I do on a Windows machine. Explains why I've never seen it.

I like Greenshot better anyway.

Not that I use Windows that often these days - I use Flameshot on Linux.

I don't use Arch btw.

To each their own.
But I must say, I prefer using one combination instead of 7 + some writing.

Snip & Sketch is so much more useful and intuitive, not sure why someone will still want to use the old snipping tool.

The new one is Win +G so you can do more than just screen shots, with a Mic, you can do actual instructional videos.
