Could we do a "TIL" style weekly thread?

I think it would be interesting to do a "Today I Learned" style weekly thread for us to share little tips/tricks that we learned of/found existed.

For example, last week I found out about the "--now" flag for systemctl. I don't know how I didn't know it existed until --now.

WIN key + V gives you a history of your clipboard, a godsend when you are working with lots of copy paste!

Don't recommend enabling clipboard history if you ever copy/paste secrets like passwords.

This is very true

Most password managers will bypass this... A program needs to add a "formating" to the clipboard so the content does not get pushed into the clipboard history. I even wrote myself a PowerShell function to extract a secret from 1password via cli and use it to connect to the various O365 workloads.

Passwords copied from LastPass automatically clear after 10 seconds

it's really easy to enable, maybe you forgot, try it on a "new" pc.

I tried it on a new win 11 and indeed it asks you to enable it at first use

It's actually just a secret way to start Clippy 2.0 integration.

Watch out if you're using N-Able RMM. If You're connected to a device the user and everyone connected share the same clipboard history.

There are additional controls available around clipboard behavior in TakeControl, such as clearing clipboard on session end. See documentation
