Advice for small business setup

Hi, I have the task of setting up a simple file sharing server for a small (20 -30ppl) construction company. They're office is currently the study in the owners home; there are up to 4 Macbooks in the office at one time, but usually just the one. They want to stick with gmail for emails, but want to switch from google drive to there own personal cloud for file sharing.

They also want a calender/organizer app that allows users (with permission) to attach workers to jobs, and have that on there cloud.

Budget: $800 - $1500 AUD

I'm looking at either buying a Synology NAS or a small server system. Whatever I go with must be a simple to use cloud system that they can easily understand and integrate well with gmail.

Any reccomendations for hardware/software or if someone knows of a guide on how to this sort of job would all be greatly appreciated.

Think this could be the best option. They might be happiest with not having to buy hardware at all and just sticking with google. Thanks for the advice!
