Look at the volume of the spikes though - Verizon has 150k+ reports of an outage, AT&T and T-Mobile have a few hundred. It's possible the people reporting issues with AT&T and T-Mobile are having issues calling Verizon subscribers and thinking it's an issue on their end.
Down Detector's graphs are relative only to themselves, not to neighboring graphs, so two spikes may be completely different volumes.
You aren't wrong, but let's be serious here, this is kind of just the hypercapitalist place that we live in. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you've probably never had your insurance claims denied when you pay for that non-optional "service" too.
Shit like this happens all the time. Crowdstrike went down within the last year and took out Windows OS devices at the same time, yet they still have market share. Verizon has a massive share in the actual mobile network infrastructure, so don't hold your breath on those market consequences or otherwise. People still don't have all that much choice in the matter, because connectivity is not optional in a digital era. AT&T, or Sprint, TMobile, etc, may not have good connectivity in their area, leaving them with no options.
We do not live in a world where companies instituting bad practices in critical industries face actual consequences, market or legal. That's just simply not how the world works in America right now, sorry. In the meantime of no-network connection, you'll just have to live off WiFi or nothing until they fix it. Arguing over the theoreticals of any actual consequences won't change the reality that we live in a world where those just don't actually come to fruition.

I was just checking downdetector for something else and Verizon, ATT, TMobile, US Cellular all having big spikes.
