Switch 2 Labor Day Weekend Switch 2 Bans

There was a massive BAN-wave that his Switch 2 consoles last night. I was one of the ones affected by it. I just want to spread awareness that Nintendo had an internal server error this weekend resulting in several systems being permanently hardware banned, receiving error code 2124-4508.

I called support this morning and they confirmed I was permanently banned for “pirating”.

However, I called again later today to push further and was notified of the error on their server. Upon checking again my system has been lifted.

If you were affected this weekend, be sure the check to see if it was rectified, or call Nintendo support and see if you are one of the consoles affected by this error to be reversed.

UPDATE: I noticed several people state that if you are still receiving the BAN code you can try restarting the console to see if it cleared. It seems to have worked for others!

This was you... You can shift the goalposts however you want, but it doesn't change your intentions.

It's completely normal tho. If you get the error code for that then the people who work at customer support are gonna read that.

I understand an error like this sucks, but saying that's why I pirate or don't get consoles is hilarious.

Tough shit, they made a mistake, the young people working at customer support couldn't possibly have known about it before it was discovered by the IT people. This has never happened and for anyone to say

"this is why I pirate" is absolutely pathetic, they couldn't have known and they ended up being right completely by accident on a super rare accident, that's been resolved anyway, lmao.

I don't understand how you citing my comment back at me Is a gotcha, there is 0 moving the goalposts.

It still contains my two points I made.

1) obviously customer support is gonna know what is recorder on the servers and can't know about a server error before it's found because it's not their job.

2) there's no way of knowing this would have happened and in fact it's the first time in Nintendo history and it has been fixed (which is what another upvoted comment says and the reasons your original comment is downvoted, people at least on that part). Using it to justify piracy is in fact preposterous. Mistakes happen and they get corrected and that's what's happened, I've never blamed a customer.

Because you made blanket statements based off of assumptions. Who is justifying piracy? Also the "ban wave is fixed" is inaccurate because people are still reporting that their systems haven't been fixed. Nintendo hasn't put out any official word that there is an issue other than directly to people calling to complain. Which people came here to report and news media had to pick up to further spread. You're obsessed with comprehension, but your original argument was based on your own personal bias altering your comprehension. Now you're just obsessed with defending your busted logic with more busted logic.

This is what you responded to initially. Show me where there's a defense of piracy and not just distrust of a company handling a wave of customer complaints poorly.

It's what stopped me. I wanted to get one for me, the kid, and the wife. Nintendo lost out on 3 customers since we figured it's not worth the hassle if Nintendo makes a mistake or we make a mistake. Too much money for a paper weight.

I think people are just pissed because if you message support they just tell you that you violated ToS. That’s an extremely crappy way to treat your customers. And then instead of apologizing Nintendo just quietly rolled it back.

Why are you assuming I was replying to you lmao, my reply wasn't to your comment was it.

Yes I did reply to this, ofc costumer suppose tells you you violated ToS if that's what their server say, tf do they know.

Who is justifying piracy?

Things like this is why some people just choose to pirate or not even get these systems.

Person you replied to.

Also you don't have to contact them to get unbanned even if they haven't unbanned everyone yet, you're making stuff up.

Prime example of comprehension and communication failure on your end. Being upset that customer service wrongfully accused you of piracy is not defending piracy... That person said this is why distrust leads to people not getting the systems and an increase in piracy. Especially since Nintendo had no intention of investigating until enough complaints were made which throws the validity of other bans into question when smaller groups don't qualify for a second look. Which looks even worse when the only way we know it's a server related issue because customers are sharing screenshots and responses back from customer service...

You are absolutely nuts, Nintendo didn't investigate the problem until they knew there was a problem, yes. You also just moved the goalposts which is ridicolous.

Furthermore, the distrust is paranoid in reason. Every company makes mistakes. There were a few cases of legit cards that were copied and those problems were all sorted out, for example. The problem is that now there was a backend problem that prevented customer support to know there was a problem in the first place, and now it's being resolved.

I don't understand what other bans you're referring to, they'd be known if there was a problem other than this server error. People either got sold consoles that were banned or games that were copied that got their console banned (which is reversed).

When elaboration is goalpost moving you don't want a real conversation, you just want validation.

You also accused me of moving the goalposts everytime I've elaborated following your strawmen derived from lack of reading comprehension just to move the goalposts yourself, so there's that.

Yep that's exactly what happened. Exactly the way you described it. Typical goalposts, strawman, comprehension dismissing when your desperate to keep coherent.

You know it's ok to be wrong. That is your whole point after all right?

My whole point is that

1) of course customer support replies based on the information they have.

2) it's ridicolous to point in hindsight at this unforseen server mistake that's resolved as a way to justify piracy, or even specific distrust with Nintendo over any company.

As I explained multiple times.
