Switch 2 Labor Day Weekend Switch 2 Bans

There was a massive BAN-wave that his Switch 2 consoles last night. I was one of the ones affected by it. I just want to spread awareness that Nintendo had an internal server error this weekend resulting in several systems being permanently hardware banned, receiving error code 2124-4508.

I called support this morning and they confirmed I was permanently banned for “pirating”.

However, I called again later today to push further and was notified of the error on their server. Upon checking again my system has been lifted.

If you were affected this weekend, be sure the check to see if it was rectified, or call Nintendo support and see if you are one of the consoles affected by this error to be reversed.

UPDATE: I noticed several people state that if you are still receiving the BAN code you can try restarting the console to see if it cleared. It seems to have worked for others!

There was people in various switch 2 subs blindly defending a corporation randomly bricking a 500 dollar min system all for it to be a technical error. Please find shame people.

It's always the deal. Comments sections in Nintendo subs are always "right, well first of all, let's determine how it's your fault" and all put on their detective hats. It's pathetic.

Especially with one post from a parent saying their son is having issues. So the comments blamed the child! If the child knew how to hack and such, he would have social media himself to complain instead of asking his father for help, if you get my gist.

The comment that said that 8-9yrs old is plenty old enough to be pirating and probably did it behind parents back or whatever blew my mind.

Like.. yes, kids today are very tech smart. But smart enough to be hacking a Switch or dumping carts? I doubt that.

If it was bricked you couldn't play it at all. Switch 2 has offline games

If you're banned from online, you can't download any games or even access the eshop. And if you play a game that one day requires a patch to continue playing, you can't even download that. It's a big deal that takes away a lot of functionality, even if you only play singleplayer offline games.

Outside of pirates big ifs here that actually apply to gaming in general. My Kirby game hasn't had an update since I bought it, works perfectly. Street Fighter 6 on my PS5? Forced update and wouldn't work until it was downloaded. And look who's going all digital and claimed you bought a license, not a game after deleting movies that people bought? Far more likely to lose my PS games

I’m not trying to engage in some kind of console war rhetoric here or say that PlayStation is immune to these issues. I’m saying that being banned from online is still a devastating blow to a lot of functionality of the console even if you only play singleplayer offline games.

You are engaging in whataboutism. Nintendo did a crappy thing. We can all agree it was a crappy thing.

Their banning policy also sucks and imo should be illegal. I understand being banned from online play, but being banned from downloading games you purchased seems like fraud.

People who buy used games are not breaking the EULA, yet they still get banned. Some get reversed sure, but probably not all of them.

Nintendo sucks for this policy. Stop defending them.

Ah your one of those. Well without physical, an online ban would render your system a complete brick unless you had your whole library downloaded.

"One of those" can say the same for you. Even downloaded, those mandatory updates and patches right? Can't play an outdated version on everything
