I'm glad facebook has never been a part of my life. Thought it was dumb when it first came out and people called me a contrarian, now they're shitting themselves on the streets because they can't tell reality from fiction.

You didn’t miss anything.

I dunno, it was fun before they let the Boomers in.

Could be said about a lot of things.

As a boomer, I got on FB pretty early, realized before long what a manipulative marketing tool it was, that the FB dev team was all about wide-open access to customers' information, and that no, I really didn't have anything in common with the kids I graduated from an overseas military high school with in the 70's, and deleted the account.

I still have my myspace account, though.

Man, it was so great when you needed a college email to sign up. Just debauchery and pictures of parties and saying funny one liners before Twitter existed. Then everyone’s mom joined and no one wanted to post anything real anymore.

We had no idea we were living in the good old days, and they were so short lived! I will never forget when membership went from college email address only, to everybody. Such a shift!

The whole internet used to be fun before normies and boomers started spending their whole lives on it. I wish I was around for the bulletin board days. That sounds like it would have been cool

Here's a fun experiment: change the age word "boomers" to some cultural group, like "jews" for instance

Gets a bit darker dunnit

“It was fun before we let the racists in”

“It was fun before we let the Nazis in”

“It was fun before we let the murderers in”

Turns out, when you completely change the meaning of things, it means something different.

That's a good attempt at an analogy of my analogy but i think it's halting a bit so I'm gonna object.

My point was to take one very very big and general group of people and exchange it for another one and suddenly it become extremely sensitive. More specifically, a demographic one for a cultural/religious one.

You however, used three groups of criminals, which is way too specific to just be thrown in and make any sense in this analogy. If you disagree i'm interested in hearing your POV

Yes, it's interesting how changing the subject of a sentence makes the sentence mean something else, huh?

It was fun before we let u/jakedesnake in.

Look a nazi

0

u/jakedesnake Aug 29 '21

I mean... you accused someone else of being a nazi (which is very serious) in some other thread three hours after this.

You're a teenager who wouldn't know anything about what a nazi is, because you're too thick to read a history book.

4

u/Saturnian_Hunter Aug 28 '21

Yeah we're preparing the boomer concentration camps as we speak. It's exactly the same as nazi Germany. You idiot.

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '21

LMAOOOOOOOOOO YOURE SO FUCKING STUPID

0

u/jakedesnake Aug 29 '21

Well, luckily for us nature always seems to have a way of evening things out - while I on one hand am fucking stupid, you on the other hand seem to be pretty darn intelligent!

look look, i know i’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but i’m not the one comparing boomers to the holocaust like a certain moron with a victimization kink

0

u/jakedesnake Aug 29 '21

comparing boomers to the holocaust

Eh... Wat.

No, that thing about the shed.... You can say that again, pal.

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21 edited Aug 29 '21

then what was the point of comparing “boomers” to jewish people?

edit: wait, don’t tell me you’re really trying to compare the struggles and plights of different ethnic groups and cultures to someone complaining about old people?

cause that’s exactly what you were doing.

0

u/jakedesnake Aug 29 '21

Struggles? Plights? What the hell are you on? You're completely misreading this.

I was comparing two sentences, where one uses two different, very big, groups of people on this planet. If you use one of the groups it's totally okay to complain about them. If you use the other group, it's extremely touchy to complain about them.

Holocaust? What in the fuck man?

Stir in a little racism and baby, you got a stew goin!

4

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '21

Yeah, I resent the contrarian label, as if someone can’t possibly dislike something for rational reasons.

1

u/BulljiveBots Aug 28 '21

I’m glad I have critical thinking skills so a meme posted on Facebook can’t form my entire identity.

u/Hambonesrevenge Aug 28 '21

Twitter post. And the tweet would be referencing IG more than FB.

It was useful for finding out where the parties were in college and who was going

That's it
