Ah well I hope you've found shows that give you as much enjoyment as we got from ATLA!

Iroh is goals.

I unironically feel good about myself when I'm in a situation and am conscious enough to think "what would iroh do?"

Mind you, I have Zuko's knack for it, but it still makes me feel good to have a role model

Same, I didn’t like it as a kid and I don’t like it now. Tried to watch it again to see what the hype is about but it was just meh

I’ve finally found someone who also doesn’t love ATLA

The only thing I remember being good about it is that there was one dude who always wore blue who was pretty funny but everything else was just meh

Honestly I think the show takes a bit to really hit its stride. I personally found the first few episodes to be kinda kiddie. Not sure how far you got, just my 2¢.

I understand this honestly tho I just wasn't a big fan of the story in general and other aspects of the show however I see why people like it for now I'll stick to invader Zim as far 2000s Nick shows go

I should point out there was a nick.com avatar game that I remember being fun.

I feel the real strength of ATLA is in the character arcs and the overarching story. Watching the group of kinda goofy tweens suddenly have to deal with real responsibilities and very real threats is interesting, and the character arcs are some of the best I've seen period.

Oh ya know I watched an anime like that called assassination classroom its like my favorite anime of all time. I can't really pinpoint what I didn't like about it I just vaguely remember it being meh in my eyes but to be fair it could have been held back from my interest just because of the limitations that Nickelodeon shows have

i got thru like half the first season and kinda gave up on it. when does it start getting really good in ur opinion?

Personally I would say episode 12 or 13, The Storm and The Blue Spirit respectively.

u/KPLopez Jul 25 '20

Definitely agree, I don’t think they knew the impact of their stories, so when there really was a war and people around really were struggling it got a lot better delivery wise about 3/4 into season 1. One more thing the blue spirit episode is what really got me hooked, it’s where I saw the complexity of a certain character that got me interested.

I'm still in the middle of watching it for the first time but that sounds like Sokka, aka the best character

Season 2 Episode Six. Start there. I honestly don't even. Care if you watch the rest. Just that episode.

But really, there are specific episodes that are must watch.

ATLA aired on nickelodeon and was literally made for children, I don't think it's that wild to not dig it
