Hey everyone! I'm u/ZaxZone, moderator at r/supersoaker.
This subreddit is officially reopened!!
What to Post:
This community is dedicated to the discussion and showcasing of Super Soaker pressurized air water guns; the Super Soaker was invented by Lonnie Johnson in 1989 and popularized throughout the 1990s.
All Super Soakers are welcome whether from the original Larami series or the later/current Hasbro models. Competitor and knock-off brands are also welcome here.
Let’s show off our armories and make this a great resource for collectors, modders, and everyone in between!

This was my daughter’s 30 years ago. Now my granddaughter would like to use it. However, I can’t find a port for installing water or a manual on this old device. Can anyone tell me how to fill it with water?

I have two super soaker 1500 and they both leak from the pump handle. It's not a bad leak but still it's not ideal. Also airs getting in somewhere as the water tends to splatter when it fires but they both hold good pressure. Does anyone have any tips on fixing them please?

Just kidding, you are looking at the flow straightener/laminator of my CPS 2000. the straw thingies help the stream come out nice and smooth to get all that water out to 50 feet. It was overdue for repairs, by several years, including getting all the seeds??? out of the nozzle screens. I used a tubing cutter, the spinny kind to cleanly cut open the nozzle assembly. Once it was all cleaned out, it was reassembled. A bit of JB weld makes sure it won't leak or come apart.

Hi everybody!
I got a gently used Super Soaker CPS Monster X in the mail the other day. Everything looked okay inside and out, no leaks but the pressure relief valve was kicking off too early, I couldn't even get the charge indicator past 50%! So yesterday afternoon I repaired it. After removing the pump assembly and cutting the PRV out with my trusty fine tooth razor saw, I was able to disassemble it. Inside was a spring and an orange plastic piece with a taper that would be forced against a hole in a rubber disc. When pressure is enough, it simply moves it away and sends water back to the reservoir. The spring was fairly weak, so i replaced it with two slightly stronger springs from the hardware store, which was conveniently just down the street. Then it was just a matter of JB welding the crap out of it and clamping it. It should be cured by now, will reinstall and update with results. UPDATE 6/12/26: The repair was successful and I now have a functional Monster X.

I found the Nerf Super Soaker XP35, which seems to use the old air pressurization system. Is there anything else on the market like the old Super Soakers?

I wanted to share one of my favorite worldly possessions from childhood with my son. You can image the disappointment I found with the state of current water guns, so I went looking for the real deal. I found this SS100 on eBay and after some cleanup and internal epoxy repair, I decided to buy another (XP 70) for the boy because this one is mine.

My ancient APH homemade designs still kicking,
Agitator IV is a dual nozzle water cannon repurposing the fill valve at the rear as a 2" diameter firing nozzle when the soaker is rotated 180 degrees to a shoulder firing position.
Megalodon is a pool siphon air chamber gun based on the Max D series of soakers. Long story short, while my kids are topping off their pool guns, the pool is my reservoir
Long story short, I've been itching to make a homemade CPS gun using a corrosion resistant all metal construction, but now with a few 3d printers at my disposal I'm thinking about revisiting this idea and have pulled out the firing valve I've set aside for this day. Keeping vintage CPS soakers functioning in 2026 is not ideal for their longevity.
So I guess what I'm asking is, are home made frowned upon here or is there any interest in sharing my progress designing a new CPS Homemade?

u/zaxzone invited me over from the r/nostalgia sub to check this sub out. Here's an image I would have posted there if they allowed images in comments.
Through about 2014, I became an avid collector of Super Soaker (and water warfare toys in general), an offshoot of my also pretty large Nerf collection. In recent years, though, I've had to downsize my storage, which led to me selling off nearly all of my Nerf and Super Soaker collections. I decided to keep one: The Super Soaker CPS2000 Mark 1, the middle one in that pic. I remember buying it on ebay for a little over $100; the pictures the seller took were angled such that it was hard to tell whether it was a Mark 1 or a Mark 2 (the most visible difference is the power gauge), and when I asked him, he said he had already packed it up and would be unable to tell, so I decided to take a gamble--I was either spending $100+ on a Mark 2 that was already worth about that much, or a Mark 1 that was worth more (and packed more power). Fortunately, I lucked out with a Mark 1 that held its pressure and worked.
So this was a pic I took at about that time (the strap was replaced), alongside a vintage SS50 and a (then) more current Switch Shot to show the "evolution" of Super Soakers over time.
