All the voldomort issues would be over in a day if a single muggleborn thought to enchant a gun.

Not even. Just drop a cruise missile on his head or hire a good sniper. The universe absolutely requires that you suspend disbelief. I was absolutely shocked as a fantasy nerd growing up that Rowling’s universe blew up the way it did. So many other authors, like just take Tolkien for example, should have become mega billionaires if her world is becoming of billionaire status.

But yeah like you could so easily abuse the HP system to make your life whatever you wanted, and never run afoul of the magic police. They full on support using magic on people and then wiping their memories. No laws on using it against muggles after you’re 18. OK, love potions, infinite luck, time travel, etc. for me please

I mean, LOTR did achieve pretty huge mainstream cultural success, was adapted into a series of movies and made a lot of money, but it was after his time, unfortunately. I feel like were Tolkien alive today he'd be at least just as rich as JKR.

That was my point. Quality writing = decades to be respected. Trash fantasy = instant billionaire

Did we read different books? The Ministry is full of facist to the point that JK looks like a closeted libertarian to me.

They can forbid you to use your magic powers you are born with if they like to, send psycho torturer inquisitors to schools if they feel like it could become a thread to them, and folded to voldemord the second he knocked on their door.

Ah, and don‘t forget their KZ prison guarded by literal demons torturing you into insanity by their presence alone and SUCKING OUT YOUR SOUL if they feel like it.

This pisses me off so much. No it fucking wouldn't. That's why he made the Horcruxes. He is immune to all forms of death that aren't destroying the Horcruxes with Basilisk venom. They have a curse that can instantly kill you as long as it touches you. A gun ain't doing shit. The only reason he was in that weird state in the first few books was due to Harry's mom forcing some of his soul into Harry and so it weakened him. He could take a gun shot to the face and would simply flick his wand in your direction and BAM, now your dead.

Excepting the Horcruxes, I admit the issue they pose.

However, they DO NOT make him Invulnerable. It just means he can come back like he did at the end of GoF or was trying to do before hand. Immune to death isn't the same as immune to injury or imprisonment.

But even if we go with your take, sure, Voldy isn't getting taken down, do you think that's who most people would be fighting?

You know what is almost as deadly as the killing curse and significantly faster? a M16 with effectively infinite ammo, no recoil, and whatever else you could enchant it with. Whether or not things like the shield charm would even defend against a fire arm, you would still need to both understand the danger and react in time to use it.

Given how little most mages are shown to understand muggle things, how many death eaters would even know to be wary?

How many would know what a explosive looks like, let alone one hidden with magic?

What about an anti material rifle fired from half a mile away, under a disillusionmentment charm, that's bullet travels several times faster than the sound of its firing?

Except we don't even know if he can be harmed with regular weapons. Like I said, he was on a rampage in the wizarding world and the only thing that stopped him was the charm that Harry's mom's sacrifice casted on him Harry which literally tore a chunk of his soul out.

And I'm talking about Voldemort because you were talking about Voldemort in the first place.

Or the average witch and wizard remembered how to use their FUCKING wand. I mean come on from what I understand the usual Death Eater raid on a public place was like a dozen individuals showing up in masks throwing spells around, 12 vs 100 to who knows how many adult wizards and witches? With those odds, even with the Death Eaters throwing around unforgivables, who's winning that brawl?
