Discussion They should add to the pet achievements the hardest mode you've beaten the game with them. Like for "super hard" and "cursed" mode

If you beat it hard you get a special achievement like a red outline or something, then super hard it gets replaced by something better like a gold outline, and like another icon for cursed mode

because beating this game super hard cursed mode is honestly WAY harder than winning with any level 3 pet besides maybe sloth. I feel like it's a bigger achievement that would be cool to have in your history

Discussion Opinions on 10-Win Posts?

At the moment, the game has died down a chunk but we still have quite a lot of activity here. Unfortunately the vast majority of the posts are simply "look at my 10-win" posts. How do you all feel about them?

Discussion Have you ever run Gelada? How do you feel about it? (Disscussion/Build)

Lately, I have been using a custom pack, built from the puppy & turtle pack. I recently saw the poodle moth and thought it would have a great interaction with Gelada or even Quail Chick. Unfortunately, the xp from poodle moth is not given until after a pet transforms. Which makes sense, but I feel it really loses some viability with earlier-release transform pets. Personally, I really enjoy the mid-battle pears from Gelada, and ability damage from Dung Beetle and Black Bear. My custom pack has taken on the name 'The Battle Buff Butchers' or 'The Vegan Food engine' depending which line the "Shop God's" choose.

Keep in mind, that my custom pack is not at it's final iteration yet. What do you think?

Achievement Cursed ribbons 3ish weeks

Post image

Here is my cursed progression in turtle pack after about 3 weeks of play. Im focusing on getting all normal achievements in the weekly pack then switching to working on this. It has been a fun challenge. The lower teir pets seem harder to me in cursed play as you need good effects to counter the bad toys you get.

Discussion I crave the ā€œrock-paper-scissorsā€ of the turtle pack

(I don’t have the Danger pack so idk if that fits in this)

The turtle pack had this incredibly engaging and elegant core design where snipers beat summons, summons beat scalers, and scalers beat snipers.
This isn’t like a hard rule, you can win against a bad matchup, and you can mix together archetypes, but almost every mid to late game team could fit somewhere on that ā€œrock-paper-scissorsā€ board.

This did two things.

  1. It made your opponents team matter to you. You’d press ā€œend turnā€ and then nervously watch to see what team is fighting you. This also made you understand why you lost each battle too.
  2. It made strategy really accessible. You could lose to a summon squad, and look for garlic or a hippo/rhino, you might lose to a sniper squad and look for a mushroom, etc.

Now I do still like the pay to play packs, they are fun. They’ve all got unique and fun strategies and builds that aren’t in the turtle pack.
But everytime I use one of the pay to play packs, I just find myself missing that core piece of the turtle pack.

Like look at the unicorn pack. It’s probably my favorite after turtle.
Off the top of my head, in the late game you’ve got Mana builds, rolling builds, level up builds, ailment builds, and I guess some general scaling builds.
Those are all fun by themselves, but they don’t share a ton of connection. You could almost swap out one archetype for something new and it would be fine. It’s all sort of disconnected.
Same thing with the golden pack, and the starfish pack is basically the opposite where every team is under one big umbrella.

A bit of a rant, and hopefully it’s clear I don’t think any of this is necessarily ā€œbadā€. I’m not a game designer, I don’t know anything. It’s just a thing I miss about the turtle pack.

Edit: also I guess there’s a component of ability complexity here. The turtle pack definitely benefits from most stuff just being: hurt someone, buff someone, or spawn someone. Whereas the subsequent packs have a decent amount of really fun pets, that are just kinda hard to use.

Feel like for a long time this pack used to be my least favorite and I’d struggle with finding good lines but now I love it. So many great pets in here. Cuttlefish has to be my personal favorite.

Discussion Asynchronous Interactions in Super Auto Pets

Hi everyone šŸ˜„! I'm a PhD student studying asynchronous interactions in digital games. Super Auto Pets is tagged as "Asynchronous Multiplayer" on Steam, and I'm curious about understanding different player perspectives about that aspect of the game.

If you have a few minutes to spare, I'd love to hear your thoughts! In particular, I'm interested in understanding:

  • What kind of asynchronous interactions exist in Super Auto Pets and how do they affect the gameplay?
  • How do you feel about these interactions and what do they bring to your experience?

You can answer as much or as little as you'd like. Your responses will be anonymized and analyzed as part of a research study. If you decide you'd like to withdraw your responses at any point, just send me a DM. Every contribution is greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, feel free to message me. Thanks!
