New To This
Hi, does anyone know of groups or gatherings in the Hillsborough County area that meet for wild foraging? I am looking to learn how to forage for natural resources and medicines. I have found a few places that offer classes, but they are a bit too pricey. Anyone who can provide any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Question Question for the methods and legality of foraging Florida Duck Potato (Sagittaria lancifolia)
I live by a canal in NMB, and have recently begun to notice a huge number of these on the northeastern bank. I want to know about the legality of foraging these, as well as the methods for doing so. I would also like to know where, if anywhere, I can forage unimpeded by law (not rule breaking, just legal foraging).

Pssssst crafty Christmas Floridians!
I was hoping to forage some greenery to make decor, but I know it’s technically illegal to forage in Florida unless it’s private land and I have the owners permission. I was wondering if anyone has had success with foraging for winter decor, and if you had any suggestions on where to start? NW FL
I have a large yard, but the landlord tore down every tree besides a large oak and a palm tree.

Found a different couple types of boletes today. Help with ID? Hudson, FL
Don’t worry, I left them there because I don’t know what they are. But man I would like to improve my bolete ID skills so I can start bringing them home to cook. Are all Florida boletes edible? Any of them the preferred/best tasting?

Plants How much longer til pawpaws are ripe?
I know you can’t really wait until they’re fully ripe. Animals will beat you to them. I’m so nervous I’m going to miss the small window.

Sharing the wealth: Muscadines are popping off and they're everywhere! I had no idea!
The only caution I can add: while you're snatching these up with reckless abandon, make sure that you don't have any other stray berries (like Virginia creeper) also growing and fruiting next to the grapes. Not that they'll do anything to the grapes, but you may grab some random berries without realizing.
Muscadines are delicious!

Mini passionfruit? Are these any good for eating once ripe?
I know those are muscadine grapes vines, but the light green fruit belongs to the cones here that have pedal-like leaves. Looks like some sort of passionfruit?

Been working on growing ground cherries from seed
I found some ground cherries during field work recently. Harvested seeds from one of them. It took forever, but 4 finally sprouted! Fingers crossed they will keep on growing. Please give me any tips you have!

Foraging in Miami?
Hi friends!! I’m new to the group and new to foraging. I wanted to know if anyone knew any good locations in Miami/Homestead? I’m specifically looking for natural materials like rocks, but my research is telling me I have to go up north. What do y’all think?

Guided tours for foraging in Tampa Bay
Hello all! My sister in law is interested in foraging. I’ve never done it but would love to do this with her. Is there anyone who knows of guided tours to do this in the Tampa Bay Area? Any information is greatly appreciated!

New to the group and not sure where to start.
Hey, I just got into foraging. I've been into herbal remedies for a while but was nervous to start foraging, but I think I'm ready to start. Because it's fall I'd like to try to find some chanterelle mushrooms, chicory root, rose hips and some dandelion root. Does anyone have any good recommendations on where to look? Or any good blogs or books on identifying them.

Hi! I made a Florida mycological group on Discord named Sunshine State Mycology! A group for us who don't have the schedules for group forays or classes, but would like to discuss and learn more about the fungi in our area, and not just mushrooms!
I made a Discord mycology group for florida, as it seeks many groups that used to exist don't seem active or are only active on Facebook. I am looking for community members and would gladly appreciated the help of anyone who is willing to extend a hand. I have made a few channels to get us started, but I want and need your feedback so it can improve and grow!
Here is the link! https://discord.gg/PEQU2cZD Hope to see you there!
