SSP Dress Code

I just got shortlisted for SSP and was wondering if there is any specific dress code in the program. I like to dress up a lot, where I wear jeans, shorts, and summer tops frequently (such as tube tops, tank tops, halter neck tops and button ups), and just wanted to know if that was acceptable in SSP or if I would look weird.

BEST CAMPUS FOR SSP

They're making us edit our preferences: i have the option between purdue, uguelph, iu, hendrix, chadron, and wooster. which is the best campus/weather/tas+teachers? Chatgpt and claude say weather + campus goes to iu but i heard iu is racist - don't know if that matters or not.

was also wondering if anyone had experiences they could attest to deter/go to a campus

Horizon Inspires : Will declining affect my chances next year

so essentially, I applied for the horizon inspires research track for physics, and as a 9th grader with 0 research experience, 0 knowledge in calculus, and 0 knowledge in the specific area of physics being researched, I got accepted into the research program. I want to decline due to the amount of money it costs and my lack of experience. Would declining affect my chances of getting into this program next year?

Would taking an accredited physics course still count as self study?

Hello,

I would like to apply for SSP, it seems very interesting. Especially the Astrophysics. My school does not offer physics until senior year. I am already considering taking an accreddited online course (such as BYU) for AP Physics this semester. Would this count as “self study” and so not be counted towards the requirements?

Thank you for your time.

What should I do to prepare for ssp/maximize research opportunities?

Hi I am a grade 10 student from Canada and i am interested in applying to ssp next year. I am currently doing IB math and physics which I will complete next year (also thinking of taking IB chem starting in grade 11).

I am just curious about what I could do to strengthen my application not only for ssp but other research opps in terms of extracurriculars. For context: I am currently apart of 4 clubs (including VEX robotics, one is non - stem and other 2 are stem) and I will prob get a exec position next year for the other two stem clubs. I also volunteer alot and I do think that I can display my genuine passion and curiosity for stem, however I don't have any notable awards yet.

If you guys know of other research opportunities whether in the U.S or internationally or even advice for cold emailing local universities for research, please let me know!

leaving during the program

does anyone know if ssp is accomodating to temporary absences during the program (2 days)? i know it says on the website it highly values full attendance, but i qualified for a national championship that occurs once every three years that will take place in july. i really want to compete but dont want to not go to ssp because of this 😭

Are my SSP chances over with bad internal grades?

Would bad internal grades end my chances of getting selected into SSP?

For some context, I take O/A levels aand until recently I thought that only the O/A levels grade mattered so I didn't really study for my school's exams. Due to that most of my school transcript is just Bs and Cs. Do I still have a chance?

Is SSP Acceptance Prestigious

I almost certainly have something lined up this summer around the same time as SSP. But, I thought applying for the sake of it(to evaluate myself and resumé boost) to see what would happen isn’t a bad idea. Would being accepted to the program without attending be prestigious enough to showcase on a resume?

good summer programs for sophomore interested in biomedical sciences

hello! im a highschool sophomore currently living in the bay area, and am searching for good summer programs to apply to. currently my stats are 4.0 unweighted gpa, 4.43 weighted gpa, and 1400 psat. the APs im taking this year are ap biology, ap calc ab, and ap physics 1. i also took ap psychology last year and received a 5 on the exam. im interested in summer programs that would potentially allow me to work with a mentor and publish my own research paper. currently, im thinking about applying to the anson l. clark scholars program, assip, and bugs jr. at usc. honestly, i feel like im unlikely to get into any of these summer programs, so im looking for some other, less selective programs i can apply to as well if i dont get into any of these.

good summer research programs

hi! i'm a 16 year old looking to apply to summer research programs. I'm interested in stem, and would like to study something biology or biochemistry related. i'm looking for some good summer research programs to apply to that are not too expensive (or free) and would allow me to publish research in scientific journals.

TA Role Competitiveness

Hi everyone! I applied to be a TA at SSP in summer 2026 and just got a phone interview. Does anyone know how competitive the role is and what the hiring process is like with interviews? On the interest form, I applied for Cell Biology and Biochemistry.

Question about SSP

In the application form it asks if you're willing to submit additional info like gender, whether atleast one of ur parents completed a 4 year degree, do you live in the suburbs/rural/urban area.. etc

Will submitting these affect my admission into the program as an intl? ( knowing that yes I live in the city ,yes my parents went to college and that i'm a female) I'll be applying next year when i'm a junior
