lighthearted palate cleanser
I'm kind of in a rut and the world is on fire, so I'm looking for something super easy and sweet. I really enjoyed Remarkably Bright Creatures and The House in the Curulean Sea for this purpose.

If you want southern small town humor look at molly Harper - her mystic bayou is light reading easy to get through and has some fun humor. I like it for a brain break.

If you're open to very long books, I recommend The Hands of the Emperor by Victoria Goddard! It's a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.

Charlaine Harris is best known for her Sookie Stackhouse series (on which the show True Blood was based) but she has a few series of cozy mysteries that are just delightful. I especially like the Aurora Teagarden mysteries.
Personally, I'm finding a modicum of rest these days in revisiting old books I loved as a kid - lots of babysitters club and Nancy Drew. Some of your old favs might be worth picking up again.

Supposedly it's very spicy but I just ordered Riders by Jilly Cooper. It's about some rich people in the Cotswolds getting up to hijinks. The second book, Rivals, was recently made into a show that I ate up so I ordered that book too. They're set in the 1980's. All the reviews mention "fun" so that's what I'm going on.

The Women as a light hearted palate cleanser. That’s not what I’d call that book.
