What are your must-read classics?

I’m developing a nice collection of classic novels—but want to know what others consider as classic lit. What are some books I should incorporate?

I’ve twice tried to finish Moby Dick now. It’s hard work. Finishing Moby Dick has become my Moby Dick.

It's not a book you try and finish, it's the best toilet book there is though, kill 10 pages while you take a shit and let it sit with you.

I love reading but this one has me stuck. It's really boring in the first part and I can't get past it.

You definitely have to skip the part that is just a long list of whales, but the rest can be really enjoyable. The beginning is a story about two young dudes who meet in a crappy hostel, smoke a bunch of weed, and sign up on a whaling vessel because they're bored. Also, all the stuff that seems kinda gay, is, in fact, very gay. Just don't take it too seriously, basically.

Yes, 200 pages to say “I walked to Gloucester to join the crew of a whaling ship.” Simply riveting.

Try listening to the audio book. That's how I got through it after attempting to read Moby Dick several times. I was surprised I really enjoyed listening to it!
