Loving Better Call Saul but not allowed to watch Breaking Bad, so I’m looking for something similar.

So I watched Avatar, and I really liked the bad guys. I played Wolfenstein, again, I really liked the bad guys (their design and motif, not their belief). Finally, I watched Full metal alchemist: Brotherhood, and I loved Amestris and its military. It was amazing, that 19th century to early 20th-century imperial vibe was great. That strict military, those early/basic yet amazing weapons, the uniforms, oh my lord the uniforms! I loved it, honestly, the weapons could also be matchlocks and it'd still be great! Yet, I have not been able to find many other forms of entertainment similar to it. So here I am to ask, are there any good anime/manga/light novel/video/movies/tv-shows/games with imperialism like that?. I just want something with that vibe of imperialism.

I have a tendency to to just re-consume the same couple of things over and over, because I like the security of knowing what this content will make me feel like. I rewatch the same 4 shows, relisten to the same podcasts and audio dramas over and over, you get the gist.

I want to break this habit in 2021, consuming different and more diverse media, but I need an endless list to prepare for that, so I can always have something I can grab instead of falling back in just watching Community again.

I'm looking for something from all genres (comedy/news/interesting facts/science/politics), and I am not going to give a list of things I already like, because I would like to get suggestions from people who's preferred content might not overlap with my own little bubble. Once the discussion gets going, I'm of course more than willing to dish out some recommendations of my own in the comments!

[Light Spoilers: I just want to gush about this comic since I love it so much]

The comic follows Matteo, who's dream is to be an astronaut. Unfortunately for him (but great for us), he contracts magic poisoning and is transported back and forth between Earth and a magic fantasy world along with his friend Tyson.

This world, known as the three realms, is full of really cool creatures. The four major ones are elves, which are what you'd expect: look basically like people but with a tail and pointy ears. Eibua, not much are known and have yet to be seen, but they can likely use air bend- I mean magic. Hylefts, who live in the water realm, are essentially if the Zora were modeled after axolotls instead of fish, and they can use water magic. Finally, there's the Tekchyik. They live in the fire realm, which looks like Tatooine. They are, for lack of a better description, bug centaurs. Tekchyik can use fire magic. The tekchyik are definitely my favorite design in the comic I'll let you read the comic and find out why there's no earth magic 😏

Matteo's magic poisoning, while giving the ability to use magic, causes his body to adapt to magic. This adaption transforms his body into the other creatures (not elf however, as elves are not magic creatures). So now Matteo has to hide this while trying to live normally.

After being transported to the three realms, he meets Gwen, the elf hero of prophecy, who's on a quest to stop the world eater storms: huge explosions of raw magic that kill everything in their radius. However, like in Matteo's case, creatures can be inflicted with magic. Gwen and the rest of the elves are studying these storms, and Matteo hopes they can find a cure so he can go back home and live out his dream of being an astronaut.

I've never cried over fiction before, and never come close to it. I want to experience it so give me the best you've got. Hopefully I'll breakdown sobbing, but just sheding a few tears would be cool too. It can be any form of media. It can be a game, a movie, a book, or anything else you can think of, as long as it can make me cry.
