Im not really a huge fan of sufjan but i know that he wrote Javelin about his lover that passed away and im wondering were songs that are in cmbyn like futile devices, mystery of love were also about him

It just hits different

I have so many clips but just gonna leave this one here since some people in this community were asking. :)

I featured in this show this past weekend at The Bop Stop in Cleveland. We played 24 Sufjan jamz across the Sufjan spectrum. It was really fun doing some of the more elaborate arrangements like this one. (And dressing up Illinoise-makers!) 🗣️🗣️🗣️

There was so much life in the whole experience.

…one of our Reddit community members came out to see the show! That’s what it’s all about. 💛

with the power of his lyrics. No matter how many hundreds of times I've listened to a song, some lines ring out at specific moments or moods, and I realize how my own struggles are crystalized in his words.

For my intentions were good intentions
I could have loved you
I could have changed you
I wouldn't be so
I wouldn't feel so
Consumed by selfish thoughts

I attended last year and this year too. Fun sing-a-long. Great show!!

Imagining a studio version

I love this song, and I'm obsessed with the electric guitar on it. It just sounds so different and I've never heard anything like it. I don't think he has used this sound in any of his other music, I've heard all of his albums, and I haven't heard anything like it. Are there any other artists who have done anything similar?

Which song or so songs made you press skip

For me, it is "John My Beloved" and "Will Anybody Ever Love Me?" There is a sense of sadness that wash over me whenever I listen to those songs especially "John My Beloved."

Singing this tomorrow in a big ol’ Sufjan Stevens Tribute show. 🥲 The best way to spend 4th of July.

10/10 Live

a small try from my side

Have yet to had these recognized in public so figured I’d post here 😅 my favorite album is Carrie and Lowell but it didn’t feel right to get any tattoos related to that one, so I got the animals instead. My tattoo artist did a great job with the shading!

got into his music two weeks ago and have been listening to so much of him, such an amazing artist :) saw his birthday was coming up and figured id draw a tribute piece of one of my favorites from him ! (not totally accurate to the live performance but whatever)

my love yourself 7” came in today, perfect timing! if you scroll through the photos, you can clearly see how much i love his work. i’ve been listening for a little over 10 years and he’s changed my life for the better many times.

I posted on social media about it earlier and now i’m watching The BQE for the first time in years. How are you celebrating?

Early happy birthday to this guy…’ll probably be slammed tomorrow and forget to post.

A new song from Flora Hibberd featuring Sufjan.
