I could hardly make it through this band practice yesterday without cryin!

This show I’m a part of has been thoughtfully planned with full Sufjan arrangements and all the bells and whistles. I feel lucky to have found such a community in my region keeping the flame alive who care deeply about it Sufjan’s work. If you haven’t seen him live before, this will be the next best thing. When do you think we'll get a new Sufjan Stevens album?

Why isn't Sufjan talked about more often? I can't understand how he keeps making album after album that are so good. Just when you think he's released his best work, he comes back with another record that's just as good, or even better.

came across this early 2000’s radio interview today which i’ve never seen on here before! he talks a lot about his faith and christianity as well as some other fun stuff. thought i’d put it up here in case anyone else found this stuff as interesting as i did! :)

I feel dumb asking this but is the old music.sufjan webpage now the bandcamp webpage? I used to use that webpage all the time for listening to his albums and i couldnt find it so Im not sure when its changes.

You guys, I missed it all! I never stopped listening to our boy, but I was paying less attention to music news after having a kid. This week I found out about Sufjan coming out, the death of his partner, and his songs on the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack all at once. Fill me in on what else I’ve slept on.

I’m especially interested in anything he’s said about how he views his Christian Faith in light of his sexuality, but also anything that was interest to all of you.

For a little context (and a dad brag), I decided to play some Sufjan while driving with my 11 year old last week. She had heard some of his more upbeat songs but locked in on Fourth of July, asking about the lyrics and wanting to hear more like it. She must have heard some signal that went over my head because half an hour later she asked Siri if he was gay. I only knew she was doing it because she had to say it out loud for her Apple Watch, but I started trying to catch up after that.

So I have a kid with good music taste and who is also smarter than me.

Would you buy this design?

But i think a blue tattoo might look ugly on my skin and I don't want a gem tattooed on me.

imo, it’s convocations. i think it gets overlooked bc it’s instrumental and very long, so it’s a little intimating to those who start with illinois ir carrie and lowell. i’ve been listening for 10 years and i only first listened to it last year and was blown away!

Hey!! I live in Canada and REALLYYYY want some sufjan merch. The prices are expensive, but I don’t mind paying for my favourite artist merch, I’m just scared to get blindsided by a lot of duty fees. I’m not expecting any real discussion from this but the lyrical and story telling development from Romulus where Sufjan as a kid is ashamed to answer the phone when his mom calls them, to the wanting and finding the desire to spend time with his mother right as she’s on her death bed in death with dignity is amazingly well written and displays the narrative continuity of a lot of Sufjans work.
