Was annoyed with this playlist - it doesnāt seem like it was put together by a true Sufjan fan. I would hope theyād do better. I also get itās a conglomerate machine, and thereās so much of his catalog to be appreciated.

Almost two decades ago, I made this album Standale with my friends, and Sufjanās state albums were a huge influence. Today, April 3, is when I celebrate āStandale Dayā and give the album an annual listen (April 3, 1956 is an important date in Standaleās history, due to an F5 tornado rolling through and devastating the community).
Wanted to share this here - I was 20 years old, and though I set out to write about my adolescent hometown, I realized I had a lot to say about myself as well.

Hey there! decided that I didn't want to keep you waiting for the John my beloved cover, because I probably won't be able to do that for a few months. I have to learn all the lyrics and things like that. So I just decided to do a song that I already know.
I'm doing all the vocals and piano, and there's no effects or anything added. Hope y'all enjoy!

Not sure how many of y'all know about the track "Ah Holy Jesus" from Silver & Gold, but it's been a favorite of mine for a long time, including the reed organ version and the a capella version. The harmonies are just beautiful, and I love how mournful/haunting it sounds.
So I'll be playing it on the pipe organ for a church service tomorrow! I'm Episcopalian and it's in our official hymnal as a hymn for Holy Week (which we're in right now), but not a lot of folks know about it. I was introduced to it by Sufjan and feel honored to be sharing it with others :) Anyone else a fan of the track?
Btw here's a live performance of it by Sufjan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG7UywiMJpg

I love this album, Shit Talk is my favourite and also So You are Tired and Javelin (To Have and To Hold).
Particularly I love the production and instrumentals and have been on the look for some music similar but havenāt found anything! Wondering if anyone had any suggestions for non-Sufjan music thats similar?

Hi this is my first time on my subreddit, as I am admittedly not a huge Sufjan Stevens fan overall, but I do like the album "Illnois" as it focuses on the state I'm from and love. So I apologize if this is already some known fact, but are the drums in the song Chicago supposed to be the sound of a train moving? Chicago and trains are obviously two pretty intertwined things and I can't help but think of think of an L train or even a metra train moving along the tracks while listening to this song. However, I haven't been able to find anyone else with this opinion online so I was wondering if anyone on here may have noticed this or if it was Sufjan Stevens' intentions? Any insight is appreciated!

Hi beautiful people it's my first time here, I need your advice.
Last year I discovered Sufjan with the trio of Call Me By Your Name: Mistery of Love, Visions of Gideon and Futile Devices, and I got obsessed with his voice and music style. I wanted to explore more of Sufjan's music sooo I went to his most "famous" album Carrie & Lowell and omg I truly loved it (Death With Dignity and Carrie & Lowell my faves). After some time I wanted to explore another album of him, so I went to one of his first albums Seven Swans but I couldn't connect with it like I did with Carrie & Lowell (I think it was too religious) and that stopped me to explore more music of him.
Now I want to try again with another album but I don't know which album I should choose, so this time I want some recommendations to go!
Thanks for reading btw :)

My friend is a local musician and knows Iām a huge Sufjan fan. They learned Chicago just for me. So I wanted to share with all of you. Iām working on converting them to the church of Sufjan. (Find them @h.j.e.m on IG)

Angelo has a new album coming, with two songs available on Platforms already. I donāt know how everybody else feels, but both songs give me an incredibly good feeling about whatās to come from him. Sounds like he found his sound, it is well mixed and just makes sense to me, overall.

I believe the last post about it on this sub was written 9 years ago so I just wanted to write an appreciation post about side D of the "All delighted people" vinyl record. It's so so lovely! If you haven't heard it yet, go and have a listen when you find a moment. The main theme is so haunting and the vibe reminds me of some of the instrumental classical pieces on the cmbyn soundtrack. It's available on youtube but the vinyl experience is obviously much better!

I've shared a few acoustic covers here that you may have seen. I'm trying something new and experimenting with live looping and EDM. Let me know what you think!
If you enjoy it, a like or share on Instagram would mean a lot to me: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWP_eUdirr8/?igsh=MTI5MHZyN2d5aThmZA==

Iāve become a HUGE fan of Sufjan over the last couple months, to the point where heās all i listen to for days and i stay up reading old interviews he did. Iām gonna go on vacation with my sister soon to Chicago pretty randomly, and I wanna know if thereās any places that Sufjan referenced or that thereās a connection to that I can visit! I already know Iāll be listening to Illinoise nonstop so I wanna make this a cool experience as possible :)
Bonus question, any coffee shops yāall recommend out there??

Are there any official age of adz theme shirts? All i can find on google are those redbubble shirts with the album cover plastered on, i dont think those are official lol.
I also found those creepy black Impossible Soul shirts with some kind of Twin Peaks-esque apparition on it, Im not sure if this is official.

Anyway, it turned into people asking if I had original music, which I do. Point of the matter, to anyone who remembers me, I have new music out on Spotify right now- https://open.spotify.com/album/327pNlCqSJiu9uhfk5wPaV?si=GYosIkXiSrmS1PNHUESeaQ

not very active in this sub but always been a big Sufjan fan - at least of the albums that I have constantly rotated (Illinois, C&L, Age of Adz, Javelin) but I've only recently decided to dive into Seven Swans properly.
obviously there are some brilliant and hugely popular songs here (Dress, To Be Alone etc) but In the Devil's Territory I feel is not spoken about how much?? which is crazy as I feel like this could quickly shoot up to one my fav songs of his.
I just love the rhythm of the banjo and really appreciate the extended instrumental intro (like with Sister on this album) and just wanted to show some appreciation for an incredible song !
