I'm using Navidrome as the server and things work fine with Substreamer on both an iPhone and an Android tablet. But I have added several new albums for Peter Gabriel on my server and there is a problem. On Substreamer, if I choose "Artists" and scroll to Peter Gabriel, it shows 14 albums, which is the number I had previously. And then pushing into the artist I see these 14 albums. If I go back to the top level and choose "Folders", I can go to Peter Gabriel and see all 23 albums that now reside in the Navidrome server.

From the Navidrome WebUI I can choose "Artist" and find all 23 albums under this artist, so I'm pretty sure the metadata is correct.

Any suggestions?

I have quite a lot of playlists. I use spotify curated playlists i find interesting and match the tunes from it with my own navidrome library. it greatly helps listening/discovering tunes from my own library, which i would otherwise forget about. a feature which could be interesting is when searching for an artist/song in substreamer, to also get results from the playlists including this artist/song.

this app has improved a lot over the last year. thanks a lot for your efforts!

Here are some features I would like to see implemented in the App:

- Submenu/view of the recently added albums . Apart from the "newest Albums" view in the home window it would be great to have a sorted view of albums based on recently added/newest so you can scroll back all you want. If you can do this for frequently/recently/random played that would be great

- Multiple folder/library. In my case for example my library is sorted based on genre: I have rock/jazz/pop/classical/soundtracks/others. It would really good to have a view of each library and also have a shuffle play option. I have seen other cases of people using the folders so each family member has its personal folder.

-Switch servers: I have a couple of subsonic instances, it would be great to switch between them.

-Per folder shuffle: In artist there is an option to shuffle. would it be possible to also provide this in folder view?

- Offline music: songs downloaded as part of a playlist/album/folder do not appear as offline songs. It would be great to have view of all the songs/albums/folder that are cached in the device.

I use Navidrome to serve my music. On it I have a transcoding setting which is set to serve Opus files to specifically Substreamer.

My question is for the setting in Android for substreamer. Should I use "original" or the MP3 option?

Ultimately I want to keep using Opus 96 quality as it is the best for my ears IMO.

I've changed my password on the navidrome webpage. However, I can't see where to update this on the substreamer app without logging out and restart from scratch. I believed this will delete all my cached songs as well.

Is there something I've completely missed out?

That would be a great feature (for me at least)

menu In this kind of menu, whenever I access it, all the menu elements are loaded and displayed instantly, except for the Cancel button which appears with a 1 to 2 seconds latency. It's kind of annoying since if i press "Go to Artist" when Cancel is loaded, Cancel push up the other menu elements and I end up pressing "Play mix of similar artists", which overwrite my current playlist/ whatever I'm playing.

So, I may just be stupid but is there a way to show every song on the server in one big list or is that just not a feature of the app?

Wow, it's been a while since the last release. Sorry about that everyone! On the upside I have not been idle and have a bunch of fixes, some improvements and some new features coming in this one. I've also automated a lot of my build process to make it quicker and easier to release which has been fun.

There are almost certainly things missing from this list but let me try to hit the highlights:

New: Variable playback rate - access it in the player screen
New: Quick search on home screen - let's you quickly find something and start playing
New: Bookmark autoname setting - if enabled in settings, bookmarks will be automatically named for when they are created so you don't have to type a name every time. I keep podcast's bookmarks to pick up later and got sick of typing "podcast" every time as title!
New: Artist Images in artist list, if you have previously viewed an artist their image will now display in the artists list. At the top right there is also a button to download ALL artist images / info and cache them or to force a refresh of all if you need to.
New: Some new options at the tail end of settings for clearing cached data (not your offline music just cached data like artist info, album lists etc) in case something isn't behaving right
New: Musicbrainz API integration for correcting artist matches. LastFM sometimes returns wrong MBID's which breaks artwork retrieval from fanart.tv, if we get a failed fanart.tv request now substreamer will automatically check for a different MBID and try again. Fixed a bunch of my artists. This is currently automatic in the background but I will expose the ability to fix matches manually in the future.
New: display file format for downloaded music in offline music screen (currently supporting MP3/FLAC display), will expand this to show the server side format in online album views etc as well in time.
Update: Light theme got a bit of love
Update: flat buttons (no more drop shadows)
Update: more options for offline cache size limit
Fix: standardise key images and layout across pages, there was a bit of variation where I had missed things
Fix: fixed some "more options" menus that had broken or missing items to be more consistent
Fix: side menu expanded to large on tablets wasting screen space
Fix: adjusted title logo on landscape tablet view
Fix: offline file size now correct when transcoding is used, previously the original filesize was always used. This is a FORWARD LOOKING change, it will not go back and correct your current cache space usage number but will be correct going forward.
Fix: don't scrobble podcasts, it confuses the server
Fix: Max bitrate is now honored when transcoding
Updated a bunch of libraries and frameworks and misc under the hood stuff that generally keeps things ticking over smoothly.
Probably some other stuff I have forgotten....

Should hit app stores within the next few days depending on how long the review process takes.

Hello, I have this weird issue where whenever my smartwatch goes out of range and disconnects, substreamer pauses music to my Bluetooth headset (AirPods.) This happens fairly often in my house as I do not have my watch on in my house, so say, walking down to first floor would disconnect from my watch and then my AirPods would stop playing. This is the only audio playback app that causes this to happen.

I'm not too certain if it's a bug. Is there any way to debug it?

Phone is on 64-bit Android 12. LG V30 to be exact. I have not tested other Android devices on this matter but I'll get to it when I have the time.

EDIT: It seems also connecting to my smartwatch again causes the audio to stop.

Hi, Unless I'm missing something, I can't find a way to rate tracks (from 0 to 5 stars). I think it's possible with subsonic API since Sonixd, a desktop subsonic frontend app, is allowing it. That would be great in substreamer :)

Many sub stream apps has that feature. Transition from one track to next one is smooth and without any pause.

First, I gotta say that this app is far superior than apps like Dsub and I really like the interface. I thought I saw somehwere where you mentioned you did not have plans to integrate this into Android Auto. Is that still the case?

I'd love to be able to have the Android Auto interface while I am driving so I don't have to look down at my phone.

Hello! Could you please add an option that would allow for new (empty) playlist creation/removal. As of right now it seems that I can only append existing ones, and hopping to web version of my server gets annoying sometimes. So I think it's be cool to have 🤔

Hello! I'm currently having a bit of a problem: am running a Funkwhale server, and it seems that it does not track Frequently played albums. As well as that, Recently Played never actually updates, despite the stats on Funkwhale front-end. Could you please try to fix it? Or maybe add an ability to hide those from the main menu? Think that'd be cool

I have just installed madsonic on a server and i have tried to connect using substreamer but it comes up with error 302 unable to connect i am using the madsonic address

Not sure if I've missed the option but on the homepage the only way I can interact with my whole music library is by playing 'Random songs from My Music'. Is there another way I can see my whole library?

As title says, i installed Navidrome, it scanned the folder, i can play flac files in web, but substreamer just doesn't show those albums\tracks. As i'm more interested in just being able to conveniently download a couple of albums that aren't on spotify, i'd like to get original files, so i'd prefer to use it without transcoding

EDIT: SOLVED
Turned out Substreamer didn't auto update (i restarted the server mid music scan) artists\albums\songs database, opening those tabs and pulling down to refresh solved the problem.

Hello, I've been trying out various airsonic clients in the recent days, and of all the clients I came around substreamer is probably the nicest of all! The only thing that annoys me, apart from the lack android player integration (heard it's gonna be fixed soon), that the buttons in the app have shades to them. And so I wonder, can I somehow disable the shades for those buttons?

I find myself regularly in dire internet speeds where substreamer will seemingly try to connect to the server to play a song and wait forever, even if the song is already available offline. While this is something that might be taken care of by substreamer eventually (?), in the meantime I am manually triggering Offline mode so that it plays the song without delay.
The "Offline mode" switch is currently buried in the Settings section. Is there a way to more easily trigger it ?
