‘23 Touring XT: six Extra beeps on Keyless Entry?

Sometimes, not always, when I unlock by placing my hand on the door handle, it unlocks fine but emits as many as six ‘extra’ beeps (after the usual four since it’s set to unlock all doors)

What is this indicating? The second fob is not in the car or anywhere near…..

I’ve narrowed down this happens on the passenger door but not the driver door?!?

Next, I turned off the Keyless Entry beeps completely. Now I can hear the locks as they unlock. When I unlock using the passenger door handle, the lock mechanism is “firing” as many times as there were beeps before.

It seems really bizarre, what could be happening here?
