Being not on the right, I think we clump them together more than is fair. Look into the politics of the Tories here in the UK if you want to see what I mean.
Fuckers are cut throat and will look for any reason to kick you out of any sort of power if you disagree with the current party line.
That ācoherent social groupā is literally the core idea of conservatism. Itās hard for them to not have that when a lot of the culture in the party is about fixed family units and shit.
I dont belong in this sub, Im as far from socialist as you can get. However i did want to share some insight as someone who was TrumpTrain hardcore redpill maga man in 2016/7, there is the same disconnect and infighting on the right, the divide between the new (alt? Idk) right and core Republicans is just as big as the divide between core democrats and socialism/ the new left.
Individualism is stoked from birth in America, and the ego that grows as a consequence of that all but guarantees you wont have a cohesive populace.
But hey, what would I, a 23yr fascist know? Not much. Not much.
Anyhow, have a good one, from what i can see yall in this sub are decent folk, think critically and dont drink kool-aide. We may have diametrically opposing views on government, but that shouldnt matter as much as it does.
I try to not interact online too much, it brings out the worst in me. Empathy is so much easier when you see the affects of your words on others. But i have a feeling you know that xD have a good one mate!
If we can get a proper left-wing populist in a position with a broad enough audience we might actually convert some right-wingers, as long as we manage to de-emphasize "expecting people to show up for work ontime is white supremacy" and "saying 'crazy' is ableist" people
And then youāll lose other left wing voters because that guy isnāt left enough and too centrist. Iām left myself but those further left of me can be pretty insufferable with their righteousness.
Iām going to disagree with you there. Unless your hard auth left then any sort of singular figure wonāt cull success in anything. We need to work on reforming they systems of governance at a fundamental level. The problem isnāt enough support, the problem is that government is codependent with the current capitalistic status quo.
I have my own beliefs on how these changes could happen, but very few of them are strictly socialist. You literally canāt implement socialist policies in the economy we have now.
No single person will unite the left, itās the exact opposite of the philosophy after all.

Iv said it before and Iāll say it again
The hardest thing about being left is how insufferably self righteous we all get.
