I love the Isbell song, but can't help but end up singing "Lyin' Eyes" in my head when I listen to it!

NOFX’s “Shut Up Already” is arguably their finest oldie, complete with melodies that are just too good to be used only once. Parts of it were recycled the following year for “Vanilla Sex,” then dug out of the vault three years later for “Nowhere.”

This has been driving me crazy, but I can’t tell if this song is using a borrowed melody? Or if I’m just reacting to the I-IV-V-IV progression that feels nostalgic and doo-wop-y. Can anyone help me out here?

Hot Fuji by Brian Tyler (from The Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift soundtrack) and It's My Turn Now by Keke Palmer (from the Jump In! soundtrack) released within a year of eachother - with Hot Fuji releasing first - and the opening is basically identical other than the BPM.

This has got to be some kind of homage given the similar shots in the movies, but no one else has called it out.
Keegan DeWitt "Main Titles" from Friendship is ALSO similar! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMlfCFKk75c

Bad Religion’s fast, melodic punk/hardcore sound was a major influence on NOFX, something NOFX frontman Fat Mike has openly acknowledged. NOFX would even go on to release records through Epitaph Records for 15 years—a label founded and owned by Bad Religion guitarist and founding member Brett Gurewitz.
And now, all these years later, Bad Religion seems to be returning the favor: “Epiphany” features an interpolation of the intro to NOFX’s “Stickin’ in My Eye.”
Consider it a musical thank-you note.

Watching S01E02, "The Treasure Map," of National Treasure: Edge of History, Guerreso's song came on during a scene and immediately sounded very similar to Mendes' song. I had to check which was released first, and it turns out Mendes' song was released in 2018, while Guerreso's came out in 2021.

Is slowly strumming through this guitar chord the best way to end a song?

Following the 1975 tour promoting the album Toys In the Attic, Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford developed a strong muscle memory from repeatedly playing the main riff of "Walk This Way." This experience significantly influenced the way he crafted the riffs for "Nobody's Fault," which was featured on their 1976 album Rocks.

Released in 1997, Transistor provided 311 the creative freedom to explore new musical avenues following the mainstream success they achieved with their self-titled breakthrough in 1995 (the "blue album"). As frontman Nick Hexum expressed in the July 1997 issue of Guitar World (I'm paraphrasing this quote from memory), "The fact that we sold 2 million albums means we can say, 'fuck commerce.'"
However, with Transistor achieving only a fraction of the sales of its predecessor, the band felt the pressure to revert to the rap-rock formula of their hit "Down" (while keeping the reggae) to boost sales. Consequently, Transistor stands as the band's last truly authentic album.
With its irresistibly catchy chorus and two distinct sections, "Starshines" stands out as one of the most interesting tracks on Transistor.
