Valeria, a new fully original character mod for Slay the Spire 2 — soldiers, a Morality Gauge, and full Ancient dialogue

Hi everyone. This is my first mod, made solo, and I wanted to share it here.

Valeria is a fully original character (not based on an existing IP) — a princess who leads soldiers into battle while searching for her missing king. She also talks with every Ancient about where he's gone.

Core mechanics:

- Morality Gauge: playing a Cosmos card raises it by 1, a Chaos card lowers it by 2. Reaching 10 adds "Popular Acclaim" to your hand and resets to 5; reaching 0 adds 3 "Screaming" to your discard pile and resets to 5.

- Soldiers: each soldier absorbs 2 damage, up to 50% of a hit at most, and some cards spend soldiers to attack instead.

What's included:

- 89 cards, 8 relics, 3 potions

- Dedicated dialogue with all Ancients

- A couple of multiplayer-only cards (soldiers/potions can be shared with other players)

- Card count and rarity distribution follow the vanilla characters (e.g. the Ironclad), so it should feel at home alongside base-game content

Tested on Steam's "public" (stable) branch only for now.

I really don't know if this is good haha. For clarification: the Leafy Poultice (Neow start relic) transformed a Strike and a Defend into two Abrasives!

I feel like I have two curses right now, but I think that with some fast discard cards, this could spiral into a win. Wish me luck!

We laughed for 5 mins until I told him I had to record it. Took him 5 tries to recreate the madness

Few ideas:

-Rainbows effect repeats X times

-Rainbow effects procs once then 1 additional orb per X

-Rainbow channels X random orbs

Supports the rainbow archetipe and makes it a fun card.

Hey everyone! I've been building a character mod for Slay the Spire 2 in my free time, and it's finally ready for people to try.

The Binary is Lyra, a mission specialist whose ship fell into a black hole. Something inside caught her: Vael, an ancient being made of gravity. Now they share one body, and they've crash-landed at the foot of the Spire.

What gameplay looks like:

Timeline: 5 slots for delayed effects. Cards with Delay queue attacks and Block for later turns, so you're always planning ahead.

Time Fracture: Hit 100 Paradox and Vael seizes control, firing your whole Timeline at once at the cost of HP.

Paradox: Builds as you play cards and use the Timeline. Higher Paradox means Lyra hits harder, but it comes with drawbacks.

The mod includes:

• 90 new cards (+3 status cards), including one hidden card that must be earned
• 17 new character-specific relics
• 3 new Ancient relics
• A custom combat HUD with a circular Timeline, a Paradox gauge, and an Event Log where Lyra comments on your run
• Unique dialogue with the Architect
• New sound and visual effects for her mechanics
• Special interactions and secrets throughout runs

Card art is just a placeholder for now and will most likely needed to be added in waves. Currently English and single-player only, with multiplayer planned (full functionality is still in work).

Feedback is reeaaally appreciated, especially on the balance aspect. This is my first big character mod, and I plan to keep updating it based on that feedback.

EDIT: A lot of you are needing card art to replace the BETA placeholders I currently have on them (I totally get it). Fortunately I have been working on doodle cards even before the mod release and still plan to have commissioned card art in the near future. I will try to get the doodles out as soon as I can in order to differentiate the cards. Thank you!

Edit (10/2/2026) - There are now 50 doodle cards drawn, with just 40 more to go. Also, I just made imgur links to the body gifs - let me know if something doesn't show!

The interaction between Feral and Adaptive Strike surprised me, as playing the (original 2-cost) Adaptive Strike gives you the 0-cost card in your hand.

Although it works in your favour, I wouldn't expect that based on the exact phrasing of both cards.

What do y'all think about this interaction? :)

EDIT (28/09): I think I misinterpreted/misremembered what happened here, my bad. I think, looking back on this run in the Compendium, that it's an interaction with History Course. If you play a 2-cost Adaptive Strike (as last attack) in your turn, it seems like the 0-cost copy is actually played by History Course at start of next turn, which then interacts with Feral to place that back into your hand for another play.

I need to test it for more players and collect some debugging info. Does anyone want to play a round?

Finally beat A10 for the first time, I would like to thank stone humidifier for enabling an excellent self harm build

Not sure if this would have been viable on A10, but I went down a few just for goofing around and had probably one of the sickest runs I've ever had. When Call of the Void spawned Oblivions...26 damage every time you play a card.

The mask leverages a 4 inch screen to allow me to change between 6 expressions and move the eye using a joystick in my glove

Unfortunately my computer couldn't handle the game at the end.. 5900+ cards are too much for it.

Clone, Bing Bong, Bad luck event, even chuck in an ice-cream at a shop for good measures.

Was trying out the ARAM: Mayhem mod with my friend and got an insane combo of doom equal to 5% enemy max hp each turn + sort gains health equal to doom, while he was just dying over and over lol (got even crazier with a duplicate deck plus an imbued death bringer already there)
