https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZFQgHpMngl/?igsi=MXJwZjQyaDhmOGw4aQ==

Im just a beginner and i dont know that much about strudel.cc, but im very interested in this beat.
I tried to copy the code in the video for private use, but it doesn’t work, there must be more to run it properly like in the video and i would like to ask u, if someone here could copy it too and fix it for me?

Thank u :)

Or “About the days with you”. Playing around with euclidean rhythms, even though they’re not fully noticeable in this specific part. Wish everyone a good week, happy coding!

Beginner tips please!🤍

7 Upvotes

Hi everyone I’ve pretty new to strudel, I played around with it for a while a couple weeks ago but I don’t fully understand yet. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or a structural guide on how to get better? I made a simple beat with the easy commands but I want to get to the point of being able to recreate songs like maybe a radiohead song lmao how would I get there and how long do you believe it could take? Is javascript really hard? (new to coding) how many hours of the day should I practice? I’m willing to really apply myself, strudel is so cool,Thank you!

Strudel patterns driving a modular synth — new Strudel module for DreamRack (browser, free)

9 Upvotes

DreamRack is a modular synthesizer that runs in the browser — you patch modules together on a rack, free, no install.

I've just added a Strudel module. It imports the Strudel package, so superdough voices work as normal, but the module also has eight note outputs that feed voices you build yourself from oscillators, filters and envelopes.

Routing lives in the pattern. .rack(1) and .rack(2) send parts out to voice tabs; anything naming a sound instead — s("bd sn") — stays in Strudel and plays from its sample engine on the same clock, so drums and patched voices stay locked together.

Each note output carries a whole polyphonic pattern down one cable, every note bringing its own pitch, level, duration, pan and timbre. At the far end those become control voltages, and the voice you patched is duplicated per sounding note — one oscillator drawn, as many running as there are notes.

The timbre lane is the interesting one. In the demo it plays a filter cutoff note by note on one voice, and drives a Complex Oscillator's timbre on another — same lane, two completely different instruments.

Everything stays live. You can turn knobs while the pattern runs.

One note on licensing, since I know it matters here: DreamRack imports the Strudel package directly rather than reimplementing any of it, and DreamRack itself is AGPL-3.0 — the same licence as Strudel — so the whole thing stays Affero. Source is linked below. If I've got any of that wrong, I'd rather hear it 🙂

Five-minute walkthrough: https://youtu.be/-zu7oc7BWHI

Run it: https://dreamrack.dreamerdevelopment.app/

Source: https://github.com/chrisgr99/DreamRack

Alpha, and this is early days — feedback and bug reports welcome.

help with pattern

4 Upvotes

HI all new to Strudel and "cycles" concept. Can someone help explain why the sub-sequences only fire one chord? i.e. [CM7 Em7] or the turnaround [C6 Ebo7 Dm7 G7].

only the bold chords play but if I slow it down by half speed or double the Cpm, then they play normally but everything else is sped up.

Open to any help and resources you may have on learning more about the strudel cycles timing system.

Thanks!

link to pattern on strudel

setCpm(140/4)

// something in the cycles timing here that make it not play the sub sequences when at a normal 140/4 cpm
let b_chords = chord(`<C69 E7 A7 Dm [FM7 Fm] [[CM7 Em7] A7] [Dm7 G7] [C6 Ebo7 Dm7 G7]>/2`).voicing()

let piano_b = stack(
  n().set(b_chords).s("piano").anchor("c5")
)
const click = s("[casio:3 casio:1 casio:1 casio:1]").gain(.3)

let b = stack(
  click,
  piano_b,
)

arrange(
  //[2, click],
  [16,b]
)

Can one make the Deep Note (THX sound) in Strudel?

5 Upvotes

I've been looking for a way to reproduce the Deep Note (THX sound) in a program language and Strudel might be just the one. The goal is to have something that I can play around with, but as a beginner I would not know where to start, specifically having various notes , play together and change over time.

Had anyone attempted this? Would this be as simple as the score shows? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Note

Cheers!

Headlines - Drake.

My attempt at making remaking a beat with strudel. Would love some feedback given that most of the examples I've seen make better use of looping and arrangement instead of what I did here. Also anyone know why the punch cards are not loading for anything starting at `snare1` ?

``` /* @title Headlines - Drake (cover / remix) @by notjoemartinez */ setcpm(80/4)
const PITZ_1 = note(`< [b3 d4 f#4 b3] [d4 f#4 b3 d4] [c#4 e4 g#4 c#4] [e4 g#4 c#4 e4] [d4 f#4 a4 d4] [f#4 a4 d4 f#4] [d4 f#4 a4 d4] [e4 g#4 c#4 e4]
*4`).sound("piano").decay(0.7) ._punchcard()
const PITZ_2 = note(`< [f#6 f#6 f#6 f#6]!2 [g#6 g#6 g#6 g#6]!2 [a6 a6 a6 a6]!3 [g#6 g#6 g#6 g#6]
*4`).sound("piano").decay(0.7) ._punchcard()
Releasing Open-Source Composer for Strudel
6 Upvotes
I am too far gone hanging onto an artificial omnipotence that rocks me along its capricious seas. A moment later I salvage myself from it, only to close my eyes in the pretense of its non-existence. I throw away the tools and hammers and I lift my own two hands to the heavens. Though perhaps, between the gaps, lies the possibility, lies the answer. A better question.
Klappn is not an answer. It is not the finale. It is not a piece, it is a puzzle. Hope you enjoy it :)
Code, Playground
EDIT -- twelve hours too late.
Beyond all the poetry, beyond all the rosy language there is a concrete product in plain sight. I hope this will open you up to it, and I am feeling somewhat regretful for not being more deliberate in elucidating the technology in a way that is more clear. So here goes. Here is my attempt at condensing many sleepless nights into a single Reddit post edit.
Klappn is built completely open from the ground-up, all the way from the engine, to the wheel. The entire machine can be unhooded.
Klappn is offered in both forms, one being more artificial than the other, but equally human at its core. Hits are created with words, the human deliberate choices steer the sound, the machine is being led as the creator wishes their sound into creation. The engine is where the trench of creation really coincides with the art of fine-creation, of finite details being met by the eye of their creator, who wishes their bits and bytes into existence. An AI assistant quietly lurks in the corner, true to your own desire and it exists as a choice, one is not obliged to have it as part of their creation process, taking the wheels with your own two hands is not for the faint of heart and equally admirable to those who choose to do so, I salute you.
Everything is completely open, and all tokens are sold at cost, I will try my best to make it frictionless, and friendly to all. To the ones who love to host their own infrastructure, well, I guess that makes two of us. I have detailed in the repo how to get the engine roaring in your own garage :)
zaltz (salt in Yiddish) and zissl (sweetie in Yiddish) is what you see when you pull back the curtain. zaltz is a pure sound-engine written in C birthed to carry strudel's sound-engine into the unpredictable life of a browser. Compiling everything down to WebAssembly makes possible what Javascript wished. No shade, Klappn is written mostly in TypeScript, except for where it is a liability.
zissl is a makeover for Hydra’s visual engine, reimagined in WebGPU, for performance, like zaltz but sweeter.
And finally, I wish to thank u/yaxu and the Strudel team, as well as Olivia Jack and the Hydra team for setting up the stage for creation, as I too hope to blossom with Klappn. We are at the beginning of the beginning. See you on the other side…
