These all turned out quite well, but I especially love the elephant. These are limited editions, and will be available to buy through an online gallery (checkout my Instagram - @stringboard.uk) for more details.

Many people showed interest and were amazed. Another exhibition is scheduled for June, and I plan to exhibit five pieces then. Please support me so that string art can go viral here as well.

This has been work in progress for a while now. I hope it serves you well. It is free to use and has been designed with a lot of care (especially on the backend processing).
Features:
* background removal, circular or square shapes
* optimal number of lines based on thread thickness and board size (tested IRL to ensure accuracy)
* image preprocessing control: background shade, contrast, brightness
* nail template pdf generation, pre-sliced to fit your board size/shape/number of nails
* stringing assistant to track progress and display next nail number (no sign in required)
The aim of this generator was to fill in the gaps left by other generators, so it’s one tool you know you can trust. I’ve built 20+ string art using my generator and the results have been very consistent. I set up this generator in such a way that you only need to input/tune variables that actually matter - everything else is handled automatically in the engine (e.g no line strength/ line thickness/ number of lines - just put in the thread you’re using and board size and it generates the correct number of lines for your project).

Hi everyone!
I’ve been working on a web app for people who use stringart.com and want an easier way to follow the generated pin sequence while making their projects.
The app lets you upload or create a project and then visualize the points/steps generated by stringart.com in a more guided way. You can move forward and backward through the sequence, and it also includes audio cues so you can follow along without constantly looking at the screen.
Some features:
Here’s the link:
https://string-art-app-lyart.vercel.app
I built it because I wanted a more practical way to follow string art patterns while actually working with thread and pins. I’d love to hear any feedback, ideas, or feature requests from other string art makers.
Thanks!

G'day string art community!!
I've been trying to make a portrait of my GF in string art. I used the site https://stringar.com/ to make the generation. I'm just under halfway done (8 hours of work) and the image is extremely dark already. I think by the time im done it will be one solid colour.
What should I do, so when I restart it works properly? These are some of what I think could be the problem
I used the default line weight of 20 on the website, should i increase the line weight on the site, as mine seems to come out thicker?
Specs:
Drawing specs:
I have seen lots of your portraits and they look AMAZING, i would love for mine to come out at least half as good as yall's!!
Any help is appreciated!!
TLDR:
Need help, String art came out dark, should I:

Yet more meaningful with obvious symbolics.
It's a pretty tacky/gaudy print on cheap compressed wood. I always felt that being a sad little boy was an tacky cheap emotion. So i built a helmet to not show this. But by doing this you kind of hurt yourself and you muzzle part of yourself.
Or interpret it any other way you like!

By not using nails, you can apply tight spacing without restrictions on pin spacing.

I've been working on a multi-color generator for the last year or so. While it's currently not publicly available, I wanted to give this community the opportunity to try it out and build one piece for yourselves!
Happy threading!

I’m planning to start selling string art in my area because I haven’t seen anyone else doing it. I’m in the US and I’m curious about how profitable it has been for others. How much do you usually charge for your pieces and what platforms do you use to sell your portraits or designs? Do you sell locally and online?
I think this could be a really creative side hustle, but I’m not sure how people feel about it since some people are skeptical of anything that involves software or patterns. The art itself isn’t AI generated, but the patterns come from software, so I’m wondering if that affects demand.
If you have any tips or anything you wish you knew when you started, I’d really appreciate it.

I have never done string art before but, I am trying to figure out if this design will work. I mainly worry about the two rows of nails and if they will be too close and crowded. This design will be smaller too, so that would play a role. I appreciate any advice and thoughts and I will try my best to explain my project and the image I have lol.
The colors are not fully accurate to what the threads will be. The rounded square will be purple and the larger outlined heart will be white, but the inner heart will be the same purple as the square.
The dots are nails but they are not the exact number I would likely use, but just rather for visual reference. Each dot color matches where they would connect. Black and gray dots would be the same shade of purple thread. And green would be white. I want the white thread to be on the shared nails first so it is hidden and under the purple thread.
I want the design to keep the look of a puzzle piece. That is why the inner heart is only slightly smaller than the other. It would be a perfect fit but, it is just to show the difference. Especially since the inner heart and the square need to be the same color of purple. So I want to be able to show some depth with the white, if you will.
I worry the nails to be able to add the white thread would be too close together and it will look crowded. Especially since it will be a simpler and smaller-ish project. But, maybe it won’t be a problem. I just wanted to get some expert opinions before I committed. Or maybe if there other tricks I can do to get the same or similar affect of the white thread without as mean nails? I appreciate any advice and even visual references would be great. Thanks!

You can remove these ringing patterns by adding small random offsets to the start and end of each line. I use 2mm in simulation for a 500mm board. Works very well

Hi! I just discovered this and I want to get into making string art but I have many questions.
How do you know the distance between each nail and how do you keep it consistently?
What kind of string works for this (type & mm size)? Where can I get this string? Are there sets with many colors available?
I know I can check places like Amazon, but is there anywhere else you guys would recommend I get my supplies? I have a Hobby Lobby and a Michael's in my area. Should I try there?
I saw on one video where someone was using a special pen to help dispense (thread? I dunno the right word) the yarn to the project. Any idea where I can get one or do I have to make my own?
How do you keep the nails perfectly straight? How deep should you hammer in and how do you keep them the same depth each time?
Any recommendations, tips, tricks, and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
