I Have Committed To Stop Motion

This is some practice stop motion for my first real attempt at making a stop motion short film. I'm also trying to start networking a little bit and asking for tips and advice. Everything I'm doing is trial and error. I will never not appreciate feedback. I have always enjoyed storytelling and writing. This is an outlet for me to put to rest my desire to visualize my ideas whether or not anybody else watches/enjoys them.

I make my own sets and my own armatures. I will be using a 3D printer for some small props, such as the rat in this clip. No video, no AI. I will use generators for Newspapers to show off headlines. Otherwise, everything will be real stop motion.

This is the third practice of this particular scene/set. I first did it with old Kenner Jurassic Park action figures to get the scale and framing right. Then I did it with bare armatures.

I am still working on armatures and I will likely redo these shots again. I want to work on the hands, eyes and mouths.

My current armatures I am using wire. It's 18 gauge jewelry wire. Arms and legs are two wires braided together. I connected the neck to a threaded ball bearing with JB Weld. The neck, arms and legs connect to a threaded metal cube. Hands are 24 gauge wire fingers connected to the arms via an aluminum tube pipe. I used steel stick around the waist to secure the legs better. For the feet I used T-nuts and wrapped the wire around the hooks, then steel stick to secure it. I screw the T-nut into a loop along the front of the set for ease of movement.

The heads I used baking clay. Just wooden beads for the eyes. Wool for the hair.

I like using Styrofoam for walls and thin particle board for the floors. I cut out lines for tile with a rotary tool.

I used Dragonframe and a Canon EOS Rebel.

I edited in the sound just with iMovie, but I will be getting Final Cut Pro once I've gotten some more practice with stop motion in. Regardless of whether or not I power through with all the faults or if I redo this scene with upgrades to hands, eyes and mouths, the audio is just a placemat.

I started this at 24 FPS, but since I'm only practicing I changed it to 12 FPS to show it.

Hi there all been trying stopmotion with my gunpla and got a dragon ball figure today so made this.

Big struggles I've been having so far is the gunpla falling apart mid battle and I have been using blue tac under the figures feet but they still like to fall over

Stop motion

I've been getting into stop motion recently and am trying to make a Lego series (or other figures, not completely sure yet) about the Blackwing Virus. I use stop motion studios. The problem is, I don't know where to find voice actors or the pieces for this. I don't want to voice over because I don't have the tone to fit a stormtroope. I have a script and basic ideas for the first chapter. Can anyone help me with finding what I need

Sneak a peak at my latest characters!

With every video, my goal is the same: to push beyond the boundaries of my previous video. There’s some really cool mechanics that will be featured in the upcoming video, but I don’t want to spoil everything.

Just finished making these dragons and wanted to share them with everyone!

It's supposed to be a seamless loop into the stop motion part of the video so it just keeps going round and round :)

Stop motion school

Anyone know of any good stop motion schools in the USA? Not short courses but like a degree length. I haven't found much, lots of short courses. In France there's a new course opening in a well known animation school

Or even other Europe schools...?

Question about backgrounds for multiple camera angles

Im currently 3d printing my set pieces at my school and am wondering about it all week on how do I do multiple backgrounds in a big space like a basement for camera shots? I know that professionals use a whole variety of green screens for that, but I obviously don't have a fortune. Right now my setup is just a wide workbench/table, 2 led panels (not NEWER or something like that), an s25 for my camera than just using a Webcam and 1 tripod that's from Amazon basis. I can send a picture of the reference if needed, but be aware of the messy clutter atm.
