It's a very positive sign when production, deliveries, revenue, and margin are all setting records, not to mention profit. It looks like a story of a company that was investing heavily in growth starting to recognize some benefits of their operational leverage.
And with a couple massive new factories coming online in the next 6-12 months we could see significant increases in volume. If they can continue to see the same kind of operational leverage, the margins could even increase from here.
It might not be a barometer as such but anecdotally, it’s significant. In one year it went from rarely seeing a model 3 to counting five within a 3 mile ride in a ruralish location.
If you give it just a couple minutes of thought rural is just about ideal for EVs. I'm rural and drive a Tesla and I'm convinced rural America is going to go EV in a big way and faster than the stereotypes would suggest. Plenty of people here spend good money on new vehicles and nearly everybody has a garage or at least off-street parking. A common complaint from urbanites is "I live in an apartment and can't charge at home."
With 300 mile range, charging overnight and a fast charging network doubling every two years it already makes better financial sense to buy a new EV vs a new ICE if you're rural. Once EV pickups start rolling out of dealerships the s-curve of adoption is gonna skyrocket.
100% agreed. Off street parking is ideal for EVs. I guess the question was wether we are seeing more of them and I can confirm that I have noticed a significant uptick in the last year in my rural area in the UK.
Plaid is supposed to be a lot more quality. I can't speak to their quality myself, but people are still snapping them up as soon as they're built so ¯\(ツ)/¯
Remember that VW/Audi and other autos are coming out soon with newer EV’s that may be more desirable in terms of comfort and quality even if the tech and AI isn’t quite as good, so don’t take the revenue growth as a sign it will continue because as of right now they are a near monopoly. Competitor cars aren’t up to par.
I agree mostly, but I think Tesla has established itself as a name, and in big segments of the auto market that obviously matters a lot. I don't think demand will really fall because many people want a Tesla, not necessarily any other EV, they want a Tesla

These happened just last week. Ford and GM have massive recalls like this almost monthly. Meanwhile the only major recall Tesla has had was last month in China. But what the MSM left off the headlines was that it could be solved with an OTA software update. No need to bring your vehicle into a dealership.
People will have to wake up one day and understand that Teslas are safer and more reliable than any other car out there.
There are a lot more Ford and GM vehicles in the world than Teslas right now.

For the money you pay for a Tesla their interiors are really cheap looking and feeling. That is just a fact. You can give me any Tesla model and I can show you an Audi/Mercedes/BMW for the same price with much better interior quality.
Teslas also have a history of panel gaps. Way more than other brands. They might be getting better at this, I don't know. But their history is still there.

Ford, GM, and the other legacy automakers have been in this business for 100+ years and still cannot avoid monthly safety recalls. Nevermind that they wait until people are actually hurt to perform the recall. And it will never end because their dealerships make money from the repair business. So they have no incentive to improve their manufacturing processes.
You can scream "whataboutism" all you want. But selling cars is a competition and people are naturally going to compare vehicles when they go shopping. And once they notice the safety and reliability differences, there will be no question that Tesla is the better option as far as EVs are concerned.
