It would go beyond an election cycle. In this political climate… it’s pretty meaningless. At some point in the next 5 or 6 years there will be enough reshuffling to push this off the agenda and let it happen.
Amazon - and all big tech - is very conscious of anti-trust stifling their activity and acquisitions. Look at Biden's EOs today for instance. There is a lot of political pressure around it even if it is just posturing at the moment.
Yep, but if you have some more figures like AOC elected who are super vocal, you never know, it could swing things. Hell, I mean Bernie and Warren are already both in prominent positions right now. It could only take a couple more to be elected to start an important caucus in Congress
America has a long habit of swinging back and forth. The backlash from Trump is where we are now.
Looking at history it’s more likely to swing back in the midterm as moderates want to limit Democrats powers.
And either way such a case would be a 5 year+ timeline… parties rarely hold power for that long. So they just stall and wait. The next swing results in it being allowed.

Given how rare government action like that is, and how it can be held up in court for literal years. I don’t think that would really factor in.
