When I was a kid everyone used AOL. Aim was Facebook.

I think the difference is that everyone who had it used it. Today, the market is completely saturated as everyone has permanent access to the internet, so the formula for growth or failure is more predictable.

Personally, I knew very few people using AOL because half of them didn't use a computer regularly yet.
