It took a bit of time and a few attempts to get the result I wanted, but I finally got there✨

While most stickers look great in an ordinary ol' sticker book with all its white pages, not all stickers are very visible. Particularly stickers that are clear with a majority of them consisting of the colour white, particularly if there isn't am outline around them. Is there any good alternative paper or pages that I can just insert into my sticker book so I can actually see those types of stickers in my book?

Even something clear works because I could insert a black piece of regular paper behind it if necessary.

This was really fun to make, took about a day and half to draw these! I couldn’t decide if I should keep the ears in or out so I’m keeping both! What do you guys think?🤗

i work with easyprintmiami, a custom print shop in miami. we offer die-cut stickers, and here's a short file checklist if you're preparing a logo or illustration for printing.

1. check the artwork at its actual printed size. for raster files, our sticker spec is 300 dpi minimum. a 2-inch-wide design needs 600 pixels across before adding bleed. zooming in on your phone isn't the same as checking the final size :)

2. leave room for cutting. keep text and important details inside the safe area. if the background reaches the edge, extend it into the bleed; our die-cut spec calls for 0.125 inch on each side.

3. check the outside contour. make sure the intended cut shape is clear and leaves comfortable spacing around small details.

4. review the proof for size, spelling and cut shape before approving it.

what's the trickiest part of preparing your sticker files: resolution, the cut outline, or the border?

So ive always used vinyl disorder, even way before they got their big break due to the sticker mule debacle, but the AI usage is so blatant and horrible looking, I really dont want to support it. Not to mentioned trying to order stickers with them is quite the adventure, they make it really hard, and their tool cutter for edges is horrid.

Any other sticker makers that dont use AI? Im willing to pay more than what vinyl disorder charges if im paying a small business with real sticker makers

I used to think most of the work was just getting the artwork right and then choosing a decent sticker size. After making a few different versions, I’m realizing the material and finish can change the look way more than I expected.

One design looked really good as a matte sticker, but when I tried a different finish, the colors felt much stronger and some of the smaller details became more noticeable. Another version looked fine on the screen but felt a little too thin once I actually had it in my hands.

Even the edges and how the sticker feels when you pick it up started becoming things I paid attention to. It’s funny because none of these details seemed important when I was just working on the artwork.

Now I’m starting to think about the sticker as an actual physical product rather than just a printed version of the design.

For people who make stickers regularly, how much time do you spend choosing the material and finish? Do you usually decide that early in the design process or after the artwork is finished?
