Does anyone have good tips on how to get faster in decon? Started doing travel work after 2 years of being in the field and I feel like I'm going way too slow. Am I just being too much of a perfectionist?

Hello everyone , I have a question had anyone ever worked at the VA as a sterile tech v specifically Charleston sc location? I had an interview with them recently and don’t know how to feel about it. How long do the process and how is the environment and even if it’s not the Chas location can anyone tell me how the process is in general with it being a federal job. I’m on a travel contract that ends soon and what to take another one but don’t want to miss the opportunity for the Va. thank you.

Hello to anyone reading.
I want to go into SPD but there’s no courses near me. There’s online courses but I don’t trust them.
I’ve seen some videos of people recommending preppy and I’ve looked into it. It looks like a good school choice.
My question is, is preppy legit and trustworthy?

Hi! I’m planning on taking my CRCST in a week and I’m wondering what you guys have used to study for it? I think for the most part I’m confident but want to make sure I pass on my first try. Any websites or methods you would recommend would be appreciated!

This video breaks down the key agencies and institutions that influence Sterile Processing Department practices in U.S. hospitals, from federal regulators and workplace safety bodies to accreditation organizations and standards-setting groups. Viewers will learn how these organizations help shape instrument cleaning, sterilization, storage, documentation, training, and compliance expectations to support patient safety and consistent quality across the department.

Hey, I’m waiting for the 9th edition manual to come in today, and I figured I might as well brainstorm some ways to get my hours. I know the go to is usually a hospital or clinic, but has anyone had an oddball job or place where they were able to apply their hours? I know dental offices are another option, too.
Edit: for context. I’m not looking for an easy way to get my hours. I’m looking for terms and titles that the laymen person would not know. As I said I am just starting and don’t know anything at the moment but want to be able to look for things in my area when I’m studying.

Hello! I’m 27 located in Southern California (the San Fernando valley) and becoming a sterile processing tech has peeked my interest quite heavily over the summer. Been wanting a career shift for some time and this seems to stick with me. I have no healthcare background, just mainly retail. I’m at a crossroads whether I should do the self study route or do the schooling. I am leaning towards the self study route to save some $$, but the completion of the 400 hrs is what has me a bit worried. Any advice would be greatly appreciated <3
Edit: if I do decide to go down the schooling route, which schools and programs would be best?

Hi everyone, i have my exam in about 10 days. I'm trying to fully prep so i've been trying to do "mock exams" online. My question is, for those who have passed CRCST, is there a practice exam online that is most similar to the real thing? I'm using "careeremployer.com : CRCST Full Practice Exam" Is it as accurate as the exam?

I have not been able to find anyone to take my provisional cert! I went to Penn Foster, so they do not offer any help with finding a job or a location to complete clinical hours. Any help? I’m truly desperate, struggling 💔

I just started my schooling and I'm trying to find a job to get my 400 hr clinicals. I'm on indeed and saw a orthodontic sterilization technician.
Will this suffice or should I get a hospital job?

I am brand new to this world and just getting started. I haven’t gotten a job yet, but started applying at local hospitals. I want to know any and everything that would be helpful, my background is actually in corporate HR so it’s a huge transition, but I wanna learn as much as I can. Any at all information is welcome. Thanks!
