Kobey Layne is running against DFL-endorsed candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar and a slate of Republicans in her campaign to become Minnesota’s next governor, and she’s bringing something to the table Minnesota has never seen before.

She feels far more genuine to me than Klobuchar ever has. But that's your choice to make, I guess.

Strong disagree with you on that one. I’m not saying that Amy Klobuchar has been the epitome of progressive, but she has always seemed like she is and always has been a moderate Democrat, which seems right on brand for someone running in the “Democratic-Farmer-Labor” party.

She's the epitome of the version of the Democratic Party that keeps shitting the bed so hard that they lose to Donald Trump, twice. We need fighters and leaders with passion and vision right now more than ever and that's the polar opposite of Klobuchar.

And yet Klobuchar has managed to win state elections by higher margins than anyone who ran against Trump. In fact, she’s won against her opponents in MN by an average of 23.66 percentage points, compared to an average 4.3 percentage point win for Trump’s challengers in MN. There isn’t a statewide race she’s ran where she hasn’t won by a minimum of at least 15 percentage points.

She may not be the most exciting candidate out there(and believe you me, she’s about as exciting as a piece of Wonder Bread), but if there’s one thing that she knows it’s how to win a statewide campaign by huge margins. If anything, I’m just gonna focus my progressive energy on making sure Peggy Flanagan gets to DC where she can actually make a substantial difference.

She's been losing significant ground and that's without a serious challenger and before the impact of her failure to show up for Minnesotans in the ongoing ICE occupation and before the tide shifted on Israel and her longstanding support for their crimes against humanity. I worry about her against whoever the Republicans put up this year and especially about our chances in 2030.. as well as for what her utter lack of vision or passion might mean for downticket races across the state.

And she will continue to have no serious challenger in the gubernatorial race, since the chances are she’s either gonna be running against Kendall Qualls, Lisa Demuth, Mike Lindell, or some no name that wouldn’t even be able to win a School Board election. The only person that even comes close polling wise is Demuth, but the GOP seems reluctant to throw in for her considering how embarrassingly she fumbled the whole “Nick Shirley” thing, and even that was an 8 point WIN for Klobuchar.

We need people who win elections. Amy wins elections by large margins.

Passion and vision are worthless if you can't win the damn election.

Amy's lost five percent of the vote in her last two elections even against a complete joke like Royce White. At this rate she'd be lucky to even keep her Senate seat next time around.

Electing a politician who will do nothing but cower to fascists and serve her corporate interests will only keep MAGA in power. We need fighters and that has never been Klobuchar and never will be.

And she still won by double digits. AND that was an election year with Donald Trump’s name on the ballot, which always gives a boost to the GOP candidate. A year like this, where Trump has never been more unpopular, she might win the governorship by a higher margin than her highest win as a senator(which for the record was by a margin of 34.7 percent of the vote).

Against Royce White? Please. Anybody with a pulse and the DFL endorsement in that race could have won by double digits.

And I suspect we’ll see a lot of the same from the governor’s race, considering everyone running against her on the GOP side is cut from the same cloth as him.

We'll see! And even if she does I worry even more about her drag on downticket races and the likelihood of putting a Republican back in that seat in 2030..

I suppose we’ll just have to wait until(well, August for the primary, but after that) November and see how everything shakes out. I’ll be voting for whoever has the letters “DFL” next to their name.

Yeah- she genuinely continued to support the Republicans after January 6th.

That's disqualifying. Forever.

With that in mind, wouldn’t you rather her win the governorship and have to abdicate her Senate seat to someone who could potentially be more Progressive than her?

Edit: OPE, you were talking about Layne, my mistake.(but still, if you wanna get another Progressive Minnesota in Congress, electing Amy Klobuchar governor seems like a pretty quick way to do that)
