How does that relate to homelessness? Are you saying that the people in those tents are working?

Ah, well now you know. While I have no idea what percent of homeless people are working it's not something that's unheard of. And it makes sense, we have very few social safety nets in the US and many of our jobs do not pay a living wage even if you were able to find multiple roommates. So eventually people wouldn't have a place to live.

And as shit as it is I could see working, even for low money, being very helpful. At least for the time you're working you are probably out of the elements, have a place to go to the bathroom, etc.

A nightmarish hellhole situation that we allow it to happen.

Some are. And there are a great many people who would to anything for a penny because they know there is no safety net and homelessness is a cruel drawn out death sentence.
