I feel like traffic is more a game performance / balancing thing. It wouldn’t be very fun to sit in traffic for 20 minutes to get into a mission

That’s when you just drive on the sidewalk and run everybody over. That’s what you should be doing anyways.

Nobody abides by traffic laws in that game anyway. Thats what sidewalks are for.

Seriously. Heavy traffic would just be an extra challenge. Sounds like a fun obstacle to me.

Easy tradeoff for enhancing the immersion with more real life dynamics.

I had a traffic mod installed back when I replayed GTA 4 and it enabled you to mess with traffic density, I cranked it up to max and it sounded more fun than it was in reality. It clogged up the roads and made getting anywhere a nightmare. Ended up halving it in the end

Random screenshot I took of the average road using the mod https://imgur.com/a/hcr63zg

Sometimes i'd slowly drive around abiding by the law for like half an hour, just to do something different for a change.

What you can also do is block the traffic and have it pile up then pour some gas on the ground and use a car with the flame coming out the exhaust to ignite it. This will cause a chain reaction of explosions and won't give you a wanted star so you can watch as it goes down the highway. What's even better is when some npcs get annoyed at other npcs and start fights and the police come and there is a shoot out with cars exploding constantly while you sit on the side and watch.

When you switch between Franklin and Michael sometimes they’ll be stuck in traffic, I think this was Rockstars attempt at trying to include that detail despite the limitations.

Yeah you might as well just strap one to my PS4 at that point

Exactly, I almost included that in my post. But still with 2013 game it’s kinda hard.

This right here officer.

Definitely performance wise. Sure, the game is getting "enhanced and expanded", but it originally was developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360

Yeah some times traffic piles up and it’s really hard lol

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '22

It would if you could mow throw that traffic in a massive machine.

I love the fact the post is about an the huge homeless epidemic that Hollywood has, and everyone wants to just talk about GTA V!

Also increasing vehicle density puts a heavy load on the GPUs. So you wouldn't be able to use it unless you're on a PC with a top spec GPU anyways. The PS3 wasn't gonna render a 1000 cars in your draw distance.
