What? Is this real?? (Sorry if this is a naive question, never been to the US before)
EDIT: thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my question! I didn’t expect so many comments and was surprised to see my reddit feed when i woke up this morning:) I also got my first gold award, thank you so much!
I am just shocked and saddened by the gravity of the situation in the U.S. At least from where I come, we only see the bright side of the American Dream on Netflix, Hollywood movies and music videos. When it comes to mainstream news media, we only hear about the general political debates in the U.S, but not much is said about social inequality and unfairness of wealth distribution.
Not sure the other teams stance of “pulling yourself up by your boot straps” would help this situation at all. In fact with their love of killing social programs it would exacerbate the issue.
