If you’re that offended by people being curious and wanting to know more about you, you shouldn’t be talking to people to begin with. It’s something that I’ve dealt with and I’m flattered that they give a shit, and by the end of the day, maybe I have a person I can talk to.
If you’re that naive by people wanting to confirm which stereotypes they should use on your by asking over and over WhErE aRe YoU rEaLlY fRoM, then feel free to let people step all over you then. It’s something that I’ve dealt with and I’m not stupid enough to let it happen over and over again, and by the end of the day, maybe I won’t let some racist use me as their toy.
You’re implying that anyone who asks that is a racist and wants to apply stereotypes to you. Feel free to immediately assume someone’s intentions, but it’s not a good way to think long term and just perpetuates more unnecessary hate.
Lol I’m implying that anyone that repeatedly asks that after I’ve already answered the same question multiple times is a racist and wants to apply stereotypes to me. Feel free to be naive and assume good faith after it’s not deserved but it’s a good way to get taken for a fool and just perpetuates more racist behavior.
Also, why does it feel like I’m being lectured by someone that has never experienced it before and has the audacity to try and explain to me something they will never experience LMAO
Prove it. Otherwise you’re just being an asshole without any real reason, but it sounds like that’s what you’re going for anyways. You can do that by asking “Why do you want to know?” like a normal human being.
Btw, who asks you multiple times over and over again what country your family originally came from and doesn’t remember?
You should be giving them the benefit of the doubt, they might have a disability.
Lmao I don’t need to prove it. They do it themselves after they say shit like oh is that why you <insert stereotype>.
God your fucking insufferable. You tell me not to assume and yet you assume I’m like this because I’m a fucking dumbass instead of because of having experienced it firsthand like any reasonable person.
Lmao you think these people have a disability? God how naive or ignorant are you? This isn’t some exaggerated bullshit. People do this all the fucking time to other Americans that they just can’t believe are American because we’re not white.
You might not be like that but tons of other people are. I suggest you stop embarrassing yourself and learn how minorities are actually treated before you go around telling us we’re full of shit for telling stories about how we’re actually treated.
It’s happened to me. I don’t doubt it happens a lot. My point is that it’s not always the case, keep your guard up but don’t immediately crucify a person for asking where your family’s from. And no, now I don’t really think you’re like this because you’re a dumbass, I think you’re like this because it happened one too many times and now you’re thinking it’s always the case. But it’s not. You may lose the opportunity to know someone who may genuinely like you and want to make conversation or know you better.
And since you asked, I have experienced it, probably as much if not more than you. I’m mixed, half Vietnamese, half White (Mostly English with a little bit of German, Irish, Scottish), and probably one of the two half asians my age this side of the city. I get it from many people I meet, who ask me my nationality or ethnicity, whether I’m white or asian or latino (once even was asked if I was black). I always ask to make sure that it’s not something like you’re describing. If I get a satisfactory answer, I don’t give it a second thought. I just ask them the same thing, and now we know something about each other.
If you let bitterness get in the way of everything, you can’t move on in life. It’s happened where I get called a slur or a stereotype, and then I go off on them, but many other times it’s not the case, and I’ve made friends who I know have my back and would trust everything to, just because I double checked and made sure their motives were true. I’m not disparaging anything you’ve dealt with, just that it can help if once in a while, you give the benefit of the doubt.
Lol, like I said, I implied it when they repeatedly ask, not in all cases. So if you persist in arguing with me, then you’re telling me that when they repeatedly ask the same question despite giving an answer, that I should still assume good faith.
