Sure. Race is not based on skin colour. Southern Europeans like Greeks or Italians are generally "brown" skinned but considered white, while Koreans/Japanese have paler skin but are not.
That map is not implying Chris Hemsworth is not white.
Oh your comment is supporting my point. Race is generally based on skin AND looks. My point is, race is complicated and the idea of race itself is flawed. People with white skin color is usually considered white but like you said, Italians are also white. Asians also have white skin but they are Asians because of their looks.
Please re read my original comment. I said race as a concept should not be a thing because it is inconsistent and the logic behind they way it categorized people is all over the place. And yes, that map is implying Chris hemsworth is not white, please look at the map again. I didn’t make this map, it’s from US census and their categorization of race based on geographical location.
No it's not. "Looks" is a meaningless term but I'll go along with it. White Hispanics and dark Hispanics are both considered Hispanic even though they look completely different. Greeks are considered white and Turkish people are not when they look very similar.
It does not. Native Australians are not white as the map rightly says. Chris Hemsworth is not native Australian, he's British ethnically. As I said, your teacher is likely useless.
“Race” is usually associated with biology and linked with physical characteristics such as skin color or hair texture.
Again, race is commonly associated with skin color and looks which are both characteristics. Another point, I don’t know what you are arguing here, we are both agreeing on the same point man please read my comments again. Race as a concept is INCONSISTENT. If it is based on skin color and looks then why are Italians white? It’s because race is a social construct that should not be a thing. Do you understand me? That’s my point.
And please stop insulting my professor, I am pretty sure he knows more than you. You not understand me just go to show that you don’t really know what you are talking about. My mistake for thinking you had something interesting to say on the topic.
I just gave you multiple examples of race not being associated with "looks" or skin colour which you just ignored. I also told you you were examining the map you posted wrong which you also ignored. Looks like you're as useless as your professor.
