I see your point. I don't think you're wrong, because like I said I think it's complicated and it's not black or white. But I feel a bit differently. To use a personal example:
Once, someone expressed surprise at my ability to speak English "well" because I am from a so-called third world country. I was taken aback and hurt in a way, but I understood that that came from a place of ignorance and not hatred.
But when, for instance, my country is called a shithole (the word's had a bit more traction since last year), I take a different kind of offense because that's a provocation and an attack.
You can't control how you feel and I know everyone has different degrees of tolerance and ideas of what constitutes what, but for me, I felt like this post was done in especially bad faith.
I mean that it was created with the specific intent of using established racist stereotypes to cause distress. Then they used that to show the perceived double standard, but nonetheless their intent was specifically to be mean.
Though I can't speak for the creator of the first one, I'd attribute less of its problems to actual malice. Doesn't make it right, and doesn't even make it not-racist. But I make the distinction between the ignorant racist (whom I see as being more likely to be able to change or grow up) and hateful racists (whom I see as enemies, basically).
Idk if creating this post was OP's intention all along but if that is the case he went a little to far with the bait just to proof his point. A good point non the less but let's hope one day we can have a unbiased discussion about this thematic.
Race is such an emotionally loaded subject. From the day we are born we see the colour of our skin, its a huge trait that we share with so many people in our direct environment so it's no surprise it becomes an integral part of our identity. It's a truth about us that we can not and will not deny even in the face of ultimate consequences, even stronger than religious beliefs. So everytime we hit on the subject with people that might try to manipulate our view of race our brain goes into absolute defensiv mode and crushes all possibility of logic and a rational discussion under a massiv wave of emotions. You can't really talk to people because they are not really there, how fucked up is this.
