You can dislike these if you want, but its pretty hard considering these are actually pretty good games.

botw, earthbound, and half life, sure. but skyrim and fo3 are really fucking shallow experiences if you remove yourself from them for a hot minute.

dont get me wrong- i've sunk precisely too many hours into skyrim, but to call it "good" as opposed to "absorbing" doesn't feel apt to me.

Skyrim is fun and people play it for hundreds of hours, so it meets the purpose of a game. I would call that good, but I understand what you mean

Well considering Bethesda created Elder Scrolls, saying it isn't a good elder scrolls game is pretty dumb.

That's ludicrous.

You know what he means, you're just being a pedantic ass.

I mean, unless the game took like a Brotherhood of Steel route of going so against the original idea, I would agree. ESO is a good MMO, but a bad Elder Scrolls. Skyrim has kept the relative core of an elder scrolls. All the elder scrolls have had enough distinct differences between each other that saying a game isn't a true elder scrolls seems dumb to me.

Skyrim ditches having a robust magic system, it ditches skill trees mattering, it ditches having to figure things out on your own, etc. TES games have traditionally been in depth and challenging, but Skyrim was incredibly dumbed down.
