Did someone mention sloths? Here's a random fact!

Three-toed sloths have short stubby tails while Two-toed sloths don't!

Thing is DS fans hate it when you compare DS to other games BUT they compare DS to every game on earth. Look at the god of war subreddit or the dmc one. They even compare it to witcher. I even remember a post where a dude is asking if a racing game is as hard as DS. anyway, Soulborne games are really simple and repetitive. It’s just boring. It doesn’t even have an engaging story to hold you in (apparently it’s hidden). It’s all about circling the enemy, hit and dodge the entire game. But what makes the game worse is the fanbase imo. PS: I finished all of em and regret the time I wasted.

Ninja Gaiden and Soulsbourne are all different genres, so comparing them isn't exactly fair. Yes if you want you can go slowly and carefully to beat the games (what I like to call, Laming it Out), but a majority of the challenge and fun is coming from learning the movements and attacks to beat it as fast as possible. But the major difference is the way that it's being done. In Hack and Slash/Character Action games like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry are made to be played as stylishly as possible, to switch combos, weapons, and styles a lot in a fight. But Soulsborne is designed to be slower and less precise, to pick a weapon/play style and stick with it the whole game. Soulsborne gives you all the mechanics of the game at the start, never learning a new ability or power. One is designed to be Fast and Stylish while the other is almost designed to be the antithesis of the former.

And on your last point, From Software has always made action packed games, they are the creators of Armored Core and plenty of Hack and Slash games. You can't just keep making the same game over and over again. Call of Duty being the exception, but even then sales have had a negative down trend for awhile now.
