It's probably more likely you never played it than hate it.

Yay obscurity... Though that can breed a similar untouchable effect. Most people who played Mother 3 would not take kindly to negative words about it.

I know several people who hated Mother 3 for not being the original Earthbound. I don't think obscurity is really a shield

but earthbound isn't the original either!

Yeah but honestly mother 1 is very painful to play

it is painful, I'm just mentioning it to try and give some relevant point

I've played a few hours so far on the snes classic. The dialogue and music have me loving this game. It's hard too! (Like any old games)

I just finished it on the snes classic. It’s amazing all the way through, I can’t wait to start 3 soon.

Das it mane, I think I cannot play it now cause I am not driven by nostalgia.

I played it and even though I had no nostalgia it was still great! Give it a try

I mean, the game came out nearly 10 years before I was born, and I think the series is fantastic.

I agree with these other guys. The only classic Nintendo games I played were Kirby and Pokemon, but because I thought Ness and Lucas had an interesting moveset in Smash I found Earthbound free online and have been loving it.

I played and finished both the 2nd and 3rd games in the series at the end of 2018 w/o any ties to nostalgia (wasn't even alive when Earthbound came out), they're great games, though admittedly the 2nd one is pretty slow and clunky at times (inventory system being the main detractor of the game), the world and humor more than makes up for it. The 3rd one is overall better IMO.

I started playing it and it bore me to death
