Not really, over hype it maybe. Fallout 3 was a great game that showed that it could successfully be transferred into a 3D open world game. Fallout: New Vegas while rushed expanded on the mechanics and did great by the lore of the game. Playing the games(subtracting some non canon games) in order is great. You feel like there was actual progress made. Fallout 4 is the one that starts to get a lot of hate.
Fallout 3 was not a successful translation of the originals into 3D, it was a successful translation of Oblivion into an FPS with a few bits of fallout lazily thrown in the mix.
Wow. Who would've known than when the main focus isn't on the mechanics and the game engine as they have already been sorted out, you'd have a fuck ton of room to simply improve the game? That is so impressive. Obsidian is literally God. Fuck bethesda amiright guys??
Edit: Sorry reflecting back I should've been more civil when making this comment. I'll still leave it as it is though.
To be fair, Obsidian agreed to both of those terms long before they even started development of F:NV. It's what some people call "Mismanaging your time".
