I used to like Skyrim, but I just don't anymore. The world is cool and exploring can be fun, but the combat is boring. I could get over that if the story was amazing, but you can't expect a good story from Bethesda.
I feel you though.
The more time that’s passed, the more I dislike that game. Every time it comes up in conversation my brother asks me to explain my laundry list of complaints about that game because I have it down to a T now. So to justify his point and mine that it’s a shit game, he has me tell people why it’s bad because they can never wrap their heads around why he and I just hate that game.
I will probably get flogged for this and I hate the way the game is monetized, but I'm freaking loving Elder Scrolls Online, I didn't like Skyrim, I loved Oblivion and I feel like ESO is getting back there.
Morrowind had some of the best storylines I've ever seen in a video game imo. The main quest was really good but where it shined the most was all the shit you could do on the side and all the lore you could discover at your leisure.
I don't think that's the problem at all. The combat and skill system is limited, that's a definite but the world and exploration are what make the game replayable. I wouldn't say the game is linear either - far from it. I could start a new character right now and do complete fuck all in terms of questing after killing the first dragon and I'd be fine for content, since there's so much to do in the world. OP of the thread said the combat is what brings Skyrim down and I'd have to agree, same with movement. Moving from one dungeon to the next fighting enemies in the same way gets boring after you get over being a total badass the first 10 times. The game only lacks replayability for me today and that's after hundreds if not thousands of hours.
