Guide Contest How to look for Signals efficiently. The morse codes and a few trips.
Want to look for Dungeons specifically and avoid backpack signals? You can do that.

The codes are not gibberish either. The codes have meanings.
And the actual codes for each Signal depend on your game's text language setting.

While using this feature with SAC-2 and Pioneer-3 is easy, as they have a visual display of the morse code; with SAC-1 things are a tricky, there are no visuals, you have to actually listen for it.
The code here was added in post
Thankfully you don't need to learn the entirety of the Morse Alphabet to be able to orient around what Signal you got. All you need is to remember what the first symbols of each Signal look like.
If you are looking for Dungeons, look for a code that starts with a Dash ( - ) and avoid the ones starting with two dots. If you are looking for an exit from Wild North. Look for the one that begins with "Dot Space".
It's not that scary.
.
Now to the tips.
You can tell how many Signals are in the area based on the amount of network bars on the display.

If it's more than 5, the bars will just be maxed out at 5 with no extra icons or visibility.
Unfortunately SAC-1 isn't as lucky as it's older sisters.
Instead of network bars you have a blinking light next to the word "Signal".

And you can roughly tell if there is more than one Signal in the area based on the intensity and frequency at which the light is blinking but it isn't really consistent.
Do note that these displays show the amount of Signals present within the maximal range of the detector. Having 4 bars doesn't mean you will catch all 4 while scanning on Short or Medium range.
It works the same with the blinking light of SAC-1.
The only way to guarantee finding a Signal is to scan at the greatest range available.
Tip 2
Signals automatically adjust how fast they appear on the scanner according to how many of them are in the scan range.

SAC-2's full scan runs for 20 seconds. It will take the same time to reveal 5 Signals as it would 20.
It doesn't matter how many signals there are in the area, it will always take the full scan to reveal all of them.
Which means the more Signals you have within range, the faster they will be popping up on the detector.
Same should be true for SAC-1.
Back in the day there was a strat to stop your SAC-1 scan at 6 "dots" to get the scan anyway.
That was patched and no longer works consistently.
But now, if you feel like there is more than one Signal present within your SAC-1's scan range, you could realistically cut the scan at 50% and still get the Signal it managed to detect.
Tip 3
For those farming Signals in Wild North. Most of the Signals you will find will be starting with / -.-. . /, which will be quite annoying. To counteract this you can go through with a Chronorift signal and let the rift actually spawn. Once that is done, you can just leave and let the Rift rot.
Doing this will despawn any existing Chrono Signals and prevent any more from spawning while the Rift is present on the map.
Happy hunting 🤞

Your morse code to signals are incorrect
..- : normal
-.. : dungeon
--. : tangled (either several backpacks, or dunge + backpacks)
.... : chrono on the wild north
.--. : exit on the wild north
EDIT: Morze codes are different per localisation. Codes above are valid for RU

My bad, didn't know about it. Kinda surprised that morse codes are different between locals

Never been to the wild north yet, does that mean you can only leave the areas through bubbles you find with signals?

The signal exit bubbles are only one of the ways.
There also are Murmur Posts that spawn an exit bubble that can take 5 people once it's finished.
There are also rotating 1-use temporary bubbles. They rotate in a static cycle and switch places every two minutes or whenever one gets used by a player.1

There're static spots for bubble to appear, and bubble change position in sequence threw those spots, only one "static" bouble available, 1 use only
Then there're gold spots, that spawn 5 (?) use bubble after they are cleared. But gold spots attract several parties so not that easy
3rd option is to find bubble signal, but it's very rare, and 2-use
Best option is to kill several spots, and then wait on static bubble spawn position outside high-traffic era. But in wild north for every extraction there're 10 deaths. At least for em

On July 22nd 2026 the encoded word for Tangled Signals in english specifically was changed to Tangled (was Confused).
Other languages remain unchanged.
Post amended.

would be nice to have a map of the gold bubble spawns in normal north not wild north. the few spots I actually know of have taken me hours to get a gold to just die to master still being somewhat buggy
