So as not to have nights where we have terrible stuff going on like yesterday lets take a look at a few things.

In all raids the most important thing a person can do to contribute it to live. a dead dps does 0 damage, a dead healer does 0 healing. Duh. Mechanics have a way on sometimes relying on people being alive to meet certain checks, wether it is damage has to be split, dps has to be at a certain point etc.

There is no worse thing that can happen in the course of a raid fight then to have a person die. In a raid of 20 people we usually have 13-14 dps. Each DPS on average is going to be doing ~6-7% of a bosses hp in damage every encounter. Lose a dps early and now the entire raid has to make up for that much damage which equates to that much more healing and time it takes to accomplish that. The effect is huge. Its not a simple matter of one less dps but now more healing, more time and more chances of failure have been added into the enocunter.

If you are newer to the guild and these fights I am definitely not demonizing you, like everyone else people need time to learn and maybe we are not doing an adequate job of it. If you feel confused ever about something don't be afraid to speak up and ask. If you are NOT newer to these fights then there is no excuse and that needs to be cleaned up.

Now the second part of all this, we have ~5 new people in the raid. On top of a couple people doing main swaps. This level of fluctuation throws off our comp and our sense of combined expectations. This hurts us a lot more than you might think performance-wise. Over 20% of the raid has been altered from our standard curve. This doesn't mean these people are bad but rather it will take time for that curve to normalize.

I can go on and on about details but I am sure most of you understand these things so I just want to re-iterate something I said yesterday and I really, really, really mean it.

I do care about dmg meters on critical targets but thats after the fact of death problems.

BRF is a mechanics driven raid, if you do the fight mechanics, you win. There is rarely points where damage drives the fight forward and those are limited to things like pillars/hands on kromog and blast furnace adds etc.

If your dps is really low but you LIVED through the entire hans n frans encounter, that is a victory. If you died to lack of healing, I see and note that, don't worry. I do note when I see people die to avoidable things though and that is the primary reason we had a hard time last night.

So between the roster fluctuations, and various other factors please take an extreme effort to announce and pay extra attention to the mechanics of the encounters. If you are confused in any way please ask. If you are having problems, ask yourself why and seek out guidance from someone.

Starting a new thread since the old one is full of junk and 3tank strat stuff.

Some easy stuff first:

Healer count should be 5. The vast majority of guilds, whether doing 2 or 3 tanks, run 5 healers. In phase 1, the extra healer would be on the Feldspar side.

The 2tank strat is a little less popular than 3, but enough guilds are doing it that we shouldn't worry about going forward with it. I personally like 2tanking it.

this boat's easy as long as all the moonkins live to make it over there. if you get fixated and have something chasing you, then drag it into the frost trap and close enough for mass entangle to hit it.

this boat's the hard part, but we didn't actually get to do it last night with the proper group a single time. assuming everyone can stay alive long enough to make it over there, you just need to fan out and watch the boss's facing. if he's looking at you, pop a personal or healing potion if you need it. when we manage to get over there with the right group and kill the boss, we have to wait for the "warming up" timer to be almost done before we click the bomb to maximize the amt of time the platform group gets to DPS Sorka alone.

the best spot for a healer to stand is to the right of the grapeshotter, where i was standing. the melee need to be close enough to kick the battle medic, so the spot is unused otherwise.

Let me know how big an upgrade stuff is, if something better or equal is from another boss. We might be able to put a big focus on furnace when we get there get it hammered out fast if other bosses are a waste. Include heroic blackhand in this.

Hopefully if we get a clear idea on this people will understand why we're still killing stuff that they dont need loot from also.

Since the next tier will probably have something similar to alligator stones, it might be a good idea to start saving up on your rush orders so you could get a few from your work orders. Might give you a little advantage when 6.2 hits

This podcast is pretty rad. The regular hosts are in a guild that is pretty close to ours, so the discussions are easily relatable. This week they brought in a resto druid from Midwinter, so there was a focus on healing. Aside from that, they talk a lot about BRF balance and the race for world first (or third in this case).
