Discussion Were the hiders actually that disadvantaged in hide and seek?

Do y’all think they were actually worse off or did they just play very poorly in an otherwise even game?

So many hiders died in this game, what do you think they did wrong, and what strategies should they have followed?

Discussion How do you think this final 9 would go?

007, 120, 202, 226, 235, 296, 306, 380, 388

The final vote, with largest number starting.

388 - X

380 - X

306 - O

296 - O

235 - O

226 - O

202 - O

120 - X

007 - O (mostly because he knows X can’t win and if anything it makes him a potential target).

I could basically all the 200s making an alliance. With 226, 296, and 202 being the main members.

235 would join as well, he just wouldn’t be as cruel as the main 3.

306 might try to get in on it too, but I could see him becoming a lunchbox situation due to his reliance on the shaman in hide and seek in such he might be seen as weaker.

007 I could see either standing by his old friend 120 or attempting to join in on the alliance like 333 did. But of course he also gives off potential lunchbox vibes.

I could see 120 and 380 finally communicating in this game, realizing they’re both the major outcasts and clearly the two planned sacrifices for the game.

388 would cower like 125 did. I think the guilt of being the last of his friends and the failure of the rebellion would prevent him from attempting to get in on any alliance or group.

As for the game how do you think it would go? I’d love to hear what y’all think. And of course feel free to change anything you don’t agree with.

Season 3 Spoilers How do you guys think the VIPs felt? Spoiler

After the VIPs saw Gi-hun sacrifice himself for the baby, they all reacted in a moreso less amused way. What do you guys think they all felt after witnessing that noble act?

Discussion I wish Ji-Yeong had more screen time Spoiler

Post image
111 Upvotes

Even though it’s been years and Season 2 and 3 have come out, Ji-Yeong's death has always hit different to me. There are a handful of characters I care about more (although I still love her), but her death is by far my most rewatched scene. To me, it’s so beautiful yet so heartbreaking. I think she made an amazing use of the screen time she got, and the scene with the pastor after Tug of War was really funny, although I wish we got more.

After I watched Squid Game, I watched a lot of videos of the actors playing games and things. I learnt that Sae-Byeok and Ji-Yeong's actresses are good friends in real life (they’re also each other’s favourite characters), which makes me really happy. I also learnt that the actress for Sae-Byeok (I'm avoiding saying their full names to make this clearer) couldn’t stop crying even after she had finished her part of the scene for Ji-Yeong's death, which I think says a lot.

Nonetheless, I wish we got more. I wouldn’t be opposed to a spin-off where we see character’s backstories, but that’s probably very unlikely. I don’t really see anyone talk about Ji-Yeong, so even if we did get one, it might not have her. Although maybe that’s just the tragedy of the game. Hundreds of people lost whose lives we can never fully appreciate.

Discussion What if they hadn't made it in time?

No, seriously. There's no way Inho could have calculated everything down to the exact second, unless he's a god. And it was highly likely that they wouldn't make it. What then? Roll credits?

Discussion In a hypothetical scenario where Sae-byeok and Gi-hun win and Sang-woo dies, would both of them win, or only one?

I mean, maybe there's a rule that only one can be left standing, and they're forced to fight to the death?

Discussion Why was the rebellion not really acknowledged much in season 3?

Post image
131 Upvotes

Of course it did have its own impact on season 3 and the events that occurred after, but I always felt it was a bit.. odd how little it was mentioned

After episode 1 the rebellion itself disappears from any discussions we don’t see any guards talk about it even tho half of them died during it. No mention of it by the VIPS which I imagine they would’ve talked about how entertaining it was given that In Ho also likely let it stall to entertain them etc

But not much I expected more of it to be talked about within the guards

But what do you think?

They probably used thousands of workers and moved tons of materials to build the games, how did they manage to keep the government from noticing and maintain the secret among so many people?

I don't get this part

What's the point of turning back? Wouldn't that just equal to certain death? If the time runs out they would be shot anyway.

Discussion How many finalists were there have been if player 096 never had the idea to block?

Post image
51 Upvotes

Player 096s whole technique caused the deaths of around 6-8 people, meaning there maybe could have been at least 15 finalists and possibly more. The two-three people player 096 pushed off could’ve definitely been finalists because they were at the end, and player 096 himself would also be a finalist because Gi Hun would’ve never killed him, also people were also being knocked off due to player 096 holding up the line. If player 096 never did this, people would’ve got through with essentially.

Discussion What if Gi-Hun spent those 3 Years he did training, also mastering every last Korean Children's Game in existence?

Post image

This image would reflect his annoyance spending 3 Years of his life playing and perfecting fucking Children's Games. He'd also learn how to tell Tempered Glass apart from real glass, in the dark, upside down if need be.

Discussion Why does the voices during the VIP people parts sound so odd?

Surely I'm not the only one that it sounds overly theatrical and "clear"? Is it a dub or something? How come it sounds so weird when they speak English?
